Living Springs Excited to
Welcome Director of Music &Worship!

After much prayer and discernment, we are excited to announce the arrival of our next Director of Music & Worship, Mr. George Donovan.  George’s first Sunday will be July 3, with formal installation service on Sunday, July 10.    From 9:30-10:20 on July 10, there will be a Congregational Reception for George in the Fellowship Hall.
George comes to us from Winchester, VA, where he formerly served at Bethel Lutheran Church and as Music Minister for the Orchard Ridge Lutheran Retirement Community.   He has also been involved in various Virginia Synod & ELCA worship programs.   George is a gifted keyboardist (both piano and organ), who brings a deep understanding and passion for worship.   He describes his calling in this way:  “to utilize my experience in multi-styled church music ministry to engage, inspire, and lead others in worship; to share my passion for creating & fostering music and arts ministry that proclaims Christ and welcomes all to his table!”  Please lift up George in prayer as he makes the move to Columbia this week.

Lessons for Sunday, July 3

First Reading: Isaiah 66:10-14

Those who returned from the exile found that the hopes for the glorious restoration of Judah were not completely fulfilled. For these disappointed people, the prophet envisions salvation in the image of a nursing woman. Mother Jerusalem and a mothering God remind the community how they are sustained and supported.

Psalm 66:1-9

All the earth bows down before you and sings out your name. (Ps. 66:4)

Second Reading: Galatians 6:1-16

In the close of his letter to the Galatians, Paul encourages them to live as people made right with God through faith in Jesus Christ. Here Paul offers practical advice about how believers exercise common concern for one other in “the family of faith.”

Gospel: Luke 10:1-11, 16-20

Jesus commissions harvesters and laborers to go where he would go and do what he would do. Risking hardship and danger in exchange for the experience of great joy, they offer peace and healing as signs that the reign of God is near.

Church Humor...

Dear Pastor...

The following are actual questions written to pastors from children across the world.

Dear Pastor,
Please say a prayer for our Little League team. We need God's help or a new pitcher. Thank you. Alexander. Age 10, Raleigh

Dear Pastor,
My father says I should learn the Ten Commandments. But I don't think I want to because we have enough rules already in my house. Joshua. Age 10, South Pasadena
Do you have some church humor you'd like to share? We would love to share it too! Send your humor to Lisa in the office.
