This training session aims to raise awareness amongst staff of hate incidents and hate crimes and the tools available to prevent and deal with it. This session will explore what a hate incident and crime is and who is affected by it, using relevant case studies. The training will examine the role housing providers can play in supporting victims, increasing reporting, dealing with perpetrators, preventing hate crime, working with other partners and monitoring. This is an interactive training session tailored specifically for the housing sector.
This course will enable participants to:
Identify the different forms of hate incidents, hate crime and mate crime
Understand the relationship of hate incidents and hate crime with anti-social behaviour
Understand the impact hate crime and hate incidents can have on tenants
Understand the different ways housing organisations can support victims, increase reporting, deal with perpetrators and carry out prevention work.
Understand the role multi agency working and monitoring play in tackling hate incidents and hate crime
Identify good practice that they can apply in their day to day work
Target Audience
This course is aimed at staff at all levels and areas but can be tailored for a specific service area or level.
