HRE4 News: New Website, Conferences, and Ongoing Activities

We have almost reached the 6 month mark since the start of the Heat Roadmap Europe 4 project and in our first newsletter below, you can read about some of work we have already carried out as well as our ongoing activities. All work packages have now begun and are progressing well, so we expect to publish our first results before the end of the year, which we will keep you informed about as they develop.

HRE Website Receives a Makeover
New features include interactive hexagons on the homepage (mirroring the style of HRE3/STRATEGO), a new YouTube channel (please subscribe!) with two videos about the maps and models available already in HRE (please share), as well as a new ‘Resources Map’ which will disseminate results on a country-by-country basis.



Heat Roadmap Europe Headlining International Conference on 4th Generation District Heating
Heat Roadmap Europe 4 coordinator David Connolly is a keynote speaker at the 2nd International Conference on Smart Energy Systems and 4th Generation District Heating in September. More than 200 international researchers from universities and industry will gather to share their knowledge about the future of the energy system in Aalborg, Denmark on September 27-28, with the results from the Heat Roadmap Europe studies among the headlines. See more and register here before August 31st.



Heat Roadmap Europe Partners Central to Local Renewables Conference
There will be a special session dedicated to Heat Roadmap Europe project at the upcoming
Local Renewables Conference with the theme of “Energising the Smart City and Region”. Rainer Elsland from Fraunhofer (profiling heat and cold sector), Bernd Möller from Europa University Flensburg (mapping), Tomas Nowak from the European Heat Pump Association (heat pumps), and Morten Hofmeister from PlanEnergi (guidelines) will present various aspects of the Heat Roadmap Europe work, demonstrating how the project combines a variety of skills and perspectives to create holistic low-carbon heating and cooling strategies. Energy demand for heating and cooling in EU countries – the most detailed profiling to date
Two of the HRE4 partners, Fraunhofer and TEP Energy, have recently published a study for the European Commission which provides a detailed profile of the heating and cooling sector in Europe, which can be downloaded here. HRE4 is currently building on this work and we will release some new results in the coming months.
