Credit Team of the Year - why you should apply

Julie Hunt of Caltex and a member of the 2015 Credit Team of the Year answers this:
"The AICM 2015 National Credit Team of the Year was a fantastic experience for my team. Like everyone else, we get so caught up with our day to day job that we forget to stop and reflect our journey. The AICM 2015 National Credit Team of the Year provided the Caltex Business Credit Risk Team an opportunity to reflect on how far we have come as a team, and celebrate our wins over the past 24 months.

Will your T's & C's survive?

On 16 November 2016, legislation previously limited to contracts with consumers will be extended to contracts with small businesses.

This legislation is likely to void clauses in standard form contracts that credit professionals rely on every day.

The articles below explain the legislation and the AICM will be delivering seminars in August which will not only explain the changes but also help you identify the impacts on your business and identify steps to ensure you are ready for this change.  Email aicm@aicm.com.au to register your interest in these seminars and to let us know what specific concerns you would like addressed.

Improving Bankruptcy and Insolvency Laws

While implementation of any changes will be dependent on this weekend's election, Treasury has called for submissions on proposed changes to insolvency and bankruptcy legislation in April.

These included reducing the default bankruptcy period from 3 years down to 1 year, a safe harbour defence directors can use against insolvent trading claims and voiding ipso facto clauses.

The AICM made a submission in relation to these changes to ensure the potential significant impacts on all creditors and your role as a credit professional are understood.

Membership Renewal

Your membership identifies you as part of the credit community and is your ticket to all the updates, training and education you need to develop as a credit professional.

There is a long list of benefits making membership relevant no matter your level of experience or facet of credit in which you work. Complimentary access to monthly webinars ($50 for non-members) is a key benefit as it is another way to stay up to date and especially relevant if your asked to justify the value of membership.

Membership renewal invoices were emailed earlier this month and the new membership year commences 1 July. If you have not received your invoice please contact the AICM office 1300 560 996 or aicm@aicm.com.au.

If your employer hasn't already taken advantage of the discounts and opportunity to extend membership to your whole credit team, now is a great time to consider group membership.
