Dear Parents
Thank you all for the part you played in making this year’s Summer Fair such a great Gateway event. The Friends of Gateway team had got everything under control and even managed to secure a dry day - a minor miracle! The super Year 6 pupils excelled themselves with the variety of stalls they had organised and their lovely caring attitude to the younger children.

EYU have been expressing themselves through music this week. The children thoroughly enjoyed dancing and singing in the rain making beats in the puddles. The children used EYU musical instruments to make up songs and dances. |

Reception learn about holidays beside the seaside |
Reception enjoyed learning about holidays at the seaside from the past this week. It was interesting to look at black and white photographs from the ‘olden days’ and to compare how beach holidays in England differ to those today. |

Year 1 recover from fantastic school fair |
This week Year 1 have been busy recovering from our fantastic school fair. What a busy cafe with lots of customers being served with fruit punch, scones with jam and cream and of course our exotic fruit kebabs; all homemade or more accurately made by the children at school. |

Year 2 children have a couple of special visitors |
We have had a great week! In Science, we are looking at how babies change as they grow older. The children brought in beautiful photographs of when they were babies, toddlers and 6/7 years old (thank you for finding these) and we considered how they had changed and were there any features that had stayed the same. |

Year 3 have fun with their Greek myths |
It has been a very entertaining week with the children converting their Greek myths into playscripts. They quickly realised how important it is to include clear stage directions so the actors know how to move and deliver their lines. |

Year 4 use new Lego sets to aid story writing |
In 4KRJ we have been using the new Lego sets as a stimulus for writing. Our aim is to write a story with some accurate historical content about a Viking raid on Lindisfarne. The children worked collaboratively to construct models to represent their ideas. |

Year 5 use persuasive writing to pitch a new invention |
Year 5 are learning about advertising and the art of persuasive writing. They have each developed a liquid product that has varied from flea protectors to energy drinks! They have then written a pitch, to a company, in an attempt to persuade them to take their invention; much like Dragon’s Den. |

Walk to School Week |
The weather has certainly not been on our side for walk to school week, however, children and parents alike have battled on. Fifty per cent of the children were counted by the JRSOs as walkers - quite an achievement. |
