Charity Family Fun Day - Cancer Research UK

A date for everyone to put in their diaries is Saturday 27th August, 4pm onwards. A flyer will be published on the club facebook page and website so please share it round your family and friends, on what should be an excellent day in aid of a wonderful cause.

Chryston and Muirhead Gala Day

Last Saturday’s Gala day seemed to be a success with the weather being reasonably kind, and large crowds turning out from the local community. The Club was in attendance to allow the kids to try their hand at golf, and if the pictures are anything to go by, some of the swings are better than we see most weekends. Thanks to Margaret Loughrey, Dave Barr, Hugh O’Donnell and Colin Lawson for giving up their time to support this on behalf of Crow Wood GC.

Ladies Section Updates

Last Sunday (19th) was the annual Crow Wood Ladies Fun day, a social event to gather all our members together. Not that it was competitive in any way, but Mary Carmichael won the putting competition, with Debra Kelly, Mary Carmichael and Georgia Moffat winning the afternoon Texas Scramble, in some horrendous rain.

On Wednesday the Ladies won 3.5 to 1.5 at home to Strathaven in the Strathclyde League, which followed up the previous victory over Cawder 3 to 0, giving the team maximum points at home. The remaining two matches are away at Kirkintilloch then Lenzie, so hopefully some success will be delivered for the 2016 season.

Junior Coaching

Please note that from Monday 11th July to Friday 15th July, Ian Graham will be conducting a five day teaching course for 6-14 year olds. From 10am to 2pm each day, the youngsters will get a chance to improve their standards whilst hopefully having a good time with like minded juniors.  Further details and bookings can be made directly with Ian in the Pro shop.

Seniors Update

Unfortunately the Senior Teams’ good run of form came to an end at Airdrie last week, losing 4 to 1, effectively ending hopes of a Lanarkshire League win. However there is no despondency, as there have been quite a few changes this year, and real promise been shown for the future.

Highlight pairings have came in the teams of Brian O'Neil and John Scott, winning both of the matches they have played together, and Andy Toal and newcomer John Carmichael, who are unbeaten in 5 matches. There are two remaining league matches this year, therefore the target is a successful end to a fine season.

This week the team return to Friendship League action, with a home match against Campsie GC.  Again some new successful pairings have been made, with a notable 5&4 win being delivered by Joe Kane and Dougie Wotherspoon over Cawder.

A win over Campsie would see us top the table, but with no away matches played, it may be too soon for any optimistic predictions.
