July First Fridays Artswalk
Friday, July 1st, 5 to 8 pm

Enjoy over fifteen different art shows featuring work by over two dozen accomplished regional artists in Pittsfield’s bustling Upstreet Cultural District during the First Fridays Artswalk and all month long!


In most venues, artists will be present from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, July 1st!

Join us for a free guided tour beginning at 5pm on July 1st at the Intermodal Center @ BRTA, 1 Columbus Ave!



BOOM Original Music Act: After Ours will perform during the July 1st First Fridays Artswalk! 5-7:30pm at the Crowne Plaza!

Bonnie and Mark Parsons perform acoustically as After Ours Duo, offering a music style that adds tantalizing twists & intimate energy to songs that will draw you into their orbit!

After Ours will be performing on the 2nd floor at the Crowne Plaza Hotel hallway near the bar / sitting area, in the midst of the featured art of Marguerite Bride.

Music presented by Berkshire Organization for Original Music – BOOM.



 
Lichtenstein Center for the Arts
28 Renne Avenue, Pittsfield, MA.


Community Access to the Arts presents “I Am a Part of Art,” a celebration of CATA’s visual artists. The month-long exhibit at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts features over 100 works of art created by artists with disabilities from across Berkshire County. The exhibit will be open during First Fridays Artswalk on Friday, July 1st. The opening reception, which is also free and open to the public, is Thursday, July 14 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

“This art show is the culmination of the program year for CATA’s many visual artists, who have honed new techniques and approaches all year long through workshops in painting, drawing, and sculpture. This exhibit is a tremendous opportunity to realize CATA’s mission of shining a light on the abilities and talents of people with disabilities,” reflects CATA Executive Director Margaret Keller. “It’s also a great opportunity for the general public to purchase stunning, original artwork that supports a great cause!”

The Marketplace Café

Kathryn Jensen’s watercolor paintings will be featured at The Marketplace Cafe in July.

Kathryn’s July show is entitled “Nepal’s Lost Valley”. This collection is based on a trek in high Himalaya of Nepal in 2004 when her son was a Peace Corps volunteer there. The week-long trek went to the apex of Langtang Valley, a destination for rock climbers and people journeying to its monastery.

There will be an opening reception on July 1st from 5 to 8 pm during First Fridays Artswalk.

Peggy Rivers will present “Demarcation Series” in the Hotel on North Gallery, July 1st through August 31st. There will be an opening reception with the artist during First Fridays Artswalk on July 1st.

Whitney Center for the Arts
42 Wendell Avenue, Pittsfield, MA.


The Whitney Center for the Arts is proud to host a special selection of artwork by members of the Pittsfield High School Class of 1981. The exhibit, curated by classmate and Whit Gallery Manager/Curator Leo Mazzeo, will include a broad range of styles and mediums, and open in the Colt Gallery of the venue during Artswalk on July 1st, 5 to 8 pm.

The show, part of the 35th reunion celebration of the class, will showcase the diverse talents of artists Alison Brett, Francine Lyon, Peter Marcus, Leo Mazzeo, Don Orcutt, and Michelle Sylvester.

Also, in case you missed it, “Scapes”, will continue through July, and will showcase a group of some of the finest regionally based practitioners in landscape painting.

NUarts Studios & Gallery

NUarts Studios & Gallery will rejoin Artswalk with open studios from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, July 1st. NUarts is the largest group of artists under one roof in Pittsfield’s Upstreet Cultural District.  All types of art are created by up to 18 artists who work on the floor.  See photography, painting, pastel, watercolor, collage, mixed media, jewelry, inlaid wood and sculpture. Both new and veteran artists will open their doors during the July First Fridays Artswalk.

Downtown Pittsfield, Inc. will present designs from the Pittsfield Paintbox Project for the July 1st Artswalk. The Pittsfield Paintbox Project will bring intriguing and vibrant paintings to the streets’ utility boxes. Pittsfield’s Artscape selected the artists’ designs through a juried art call. Winning designs will be featured at Downtown Inc. during July’s First Friday Artswalk (July 1st, 5 to 8 pm), and the finished pieces will be unveiled during July’s Third Thursday festivities.

Contemporary Realism Artist, Michelle Iglesias, will present “Wild About You” paintings in Oil and Acrylic for the month of July at Berkshire Paint and Sip. Visitors will be able to view new art and meet the artist during Artswalk.

 

Michelle Iglesias will also be hosting a public painting lesson for Berkshire Paint & Sip on July 1st for $30, all materials provided.  Lesson starts at 6pm.

Dottie’s presents works by Zoë Doucette, Peter Long, Dina Noto & Tom Ciaburri for view and sale!

The public is invited to an opening reception for “Excerpts from the Berkshires” on Friday, July 1st from 5pm to 7pm in the expanded space at Dottie’s Coffee Lounge. The Exhibit runs from July 1st thru August 31st.

Bagels Too

In July, The Art Gallery at Bagels Too will show a completely new series of collages by well known local artist Anne Pasko. For the last year, Anne has been creating this series as a record of and her commentary on her journey combating pancreatic cancer.
 
Each collage expresses a feeling or experience Anne went through and each is so titled. The series and the show are titled, “Inside My Battle”.

BerkshireNow: Daniel Brody at the Berkshire Museum features video, paintings, and drawings by award-winning filmmaker and artist Daniel Brody through Sunday, August 21, 2016.

The exhibit will be open on Friday, July 1st, from 5 to 8 p.m., in conjunction with Pittsfield’s First Fridays Artswalk, when the Museum’s BerkshireNow gallery is open to the public at no cost.

Marguerite Bride at the Crowne Plaza

Artist Marguerite Bride will have selected works on exhibit in the public areas of the 1st and 2nd floors of the Crowne Plaza. They will depict the seasons in favorite places in the Berkshires. There will be no reception during First Fridays Artswalk, but feel free to stop in and take a look!
