Welcome Downtown!
Whew! June was a busy month for Selah Downtown Association!
June 11th marked the first in a long line of Second Saturdays planned for the rest of the year. These are community-wide events, organized and promoted by SDA, that include many activities, events and promotions sponsored by other downtown businesses and organizations. The theme for our kick-off event in June was "Art in the Community," and it was exciting to see the level of support and participation from the downtown business community and the public. More details and photos from the day's events are featured later in this newsletter.
June also marked the re-opening of Selah's Wednesday Market and the first year that SDA will play a role in its management. The Market opened on Wednesday, June 15th, and will continue every Wednesday, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at King's Row, through September 21st.
SDA's traveling parklet, known as Tree Top Park, has made its way from its initial location at the Tree Top Store, to Wixson Park for the June 11th Second Saturday events, and finally, to King's Row for the opening of the Wednesday Market. Keep an eye open for the parklet as it continues its travels through July!
Join us downtown on Saturday, July 9th for another Second Saturday! This month's theme is "Beat the Heat," and we continue to encourage both public participation and that of the downtown business community in hosting events or activities, or offering special promotions that fit the monthly theme. Details about upcoming events in July are included in this newsletter, and I encourage you to follow us on Facebook for regular updates.
Sincerely,
Whitney Stohr
