What another fantastic month at WIBRD! At such a crazy time of year there was such a great turn out to our networking event at Caffe Belgiorno featuring Guest Speakers Dr Sally Ferguson on Fatigue Management & Psychologist Tess Howells of positive workplace pychology, it is wonderful to have such acclaimed speakers at our events.
Our board is in full swing organising our 2016 Gala Event which will be held on Friday the 5th of August. We will take the opportunity at this years gala event to launch the Women in Business & Regional Development 'Hall of Fame' to recognise contribution to our network.
2016 so far has certainly been busy with over 28 networking and training events planned and we have certainly hit the ground running.
In the absence of any funding or grants, the reliance on memberships and sponsorships is crucial to the future and sustainability of Women in Business & Regional Development however we are always seeking out funding for our organisation and endeavouring to achieve a balance between its vision of inclusiveness, administration costs and affordability for members. Thank you to all those that have paid up their memberships for 2016, if you have not already done so please contact our executive officer Lydia and she will guide you through the process. It is great to see all the new faces at our events, we encourage all people to come and check out our events.

Five Minutes with Abbey Gabrielli
This month we are talking to Abbey Gabrielli, Franchisee, Manager & Director of Beaurepairs Mount Gambier & Gabrielli Transport.
1/ Who is Abbey?
I grew up in Millicent before moving to Mt Gambier in 2003 however after some time travelling took its toll - after having a terrible car accident on black ice, I made the move & have not looked back. I am married with 2 children Saxon & Demi who have learnt just to go with it – I worked both mornings prior to going into labour. I have a wonderful nanny who without I wouldn’t be able to do what I do as she works when ever I work. We are blessed that Saxon & Demi are adaptable. In the next 5 years I hope to be doing more mum stuff such as school camps canteen duty, at the moment I'm focused on business and establishing a future for my children. Weekends are spent in the garden laughing and just playing with the children before Sunday comes around and then back into work mode
2/ Your main professional areas/jobs you have worked in over the years.
I started pumping petrol & KS Ampol in Millicent then moved into hospitality, I then secured a job at Linfox through skilled engineering as an administration assistant. From there I moved to South West Freight in despatch before being offered a job at Mount Gambier Tyre & Brake Centre, where I met my future husband and branched into Logging which is such a tight area to get a gig in. I am now a Franchisee of Beaurepaires Mount Gambier,  which is basically back in customer service where I started my working career
I hate sitting around waiting – I am a go getter, as life is way too short to not make the most of each day “quote un quote….. make each day count” Jack from TITANIC.
3/ Biggest challenge you have faced professionally or personally.
MANAGING people and personalities OMG if I could read minds, life as a manager/ Director would be so much easier.
4/ Your favourite place to visit in the Green Triangle area.
I must say Coonawarra,  HOLLICKS restaurant upstairs is my favourite
5/ Recommendation for our members to focus on/ take away.
Have the confidence in what you say and implement, whether its right, almost right or 'GOD I hope this pays off',

WIBRD 2016 Hall of Fame
The board of Women in Business & Regional Development are very excited to announce the establishment of our ‘Hall of Fame’ initiative whereby an individual within the community will be inducted biannually at the August Gala Dinner in the alternate years to the Influential Women in Business Awards. The ‘Hall of Fame’ has been developed to recognise and thank an individual for their contribution and continuous influence towards Women in Business & Regional Development. The ‘Hall of Fame’ will be awarded based on the individual contribution to the WIBRD network and will be based on the following criteria;
  • Contribution to the network
  • Continued support of the network
  • Influence on the current WIBRD network
  • Length and depth of involvement with WIBRD
The inductees to the ‘Hall of Fame’ in 2016 will be announced at the 2016 Gala Dinner, we welcome all people involved in the network past and present to come along and help WIBRD celebrate those who have helped us become the network we are today.

ANZ Mortgage Introducer Program
After much consideration and member feedback from a survey of our network, Women in Business & Regional Development would like to announce our involvement in the ANZ Mortgage Introducer Program.
This opportunity by our Major Sponsor ANZ will enable us to receive additional funding to support the sustainability of our network through a mortgage introducer program whereby WIBRD receive 0.3% on residential loans and 0.6% of commercial loans from ANZ when members and sponsors of WIBRD mention their association with Women in Business & Regional Development.
The program will run for a trial period until from March 31, 2016 to October 1, 2016. A decision will then be made by the then current WIBRD Board if the program will continue taking in to account the 2017 sponsorship prospectus.
The WIBRD involvement in the program does not mean that we recommend the ANZ mortgage products over other mortgage products offered in the sector, and all people getting a loan are advised to perform their own due diligence in deciding what product is best for you or your business needs.
The decision to go ahead with this program has been reliant upon the feedback received from our network and we thank all that have contributed to the WIBRD making the decision to be involved.
All money raised from this program from the trial period will go towards the WIBRD Scholarship fund that has been developed in conjunction with the Stand like Stone Foundation and operational costs for the WIBRD network to ensure our sustainability and ability to offer our members cost effective training and events.
