HUGE NEWS!!

TED, NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC, DIGITAL GLOBE AND PARCAK JOIN FORCES WITH SPI TO BUILD FUTURES AND SAVE PASTS

Our paradigm works and we want to scale and take it global.  Today, we are taking a big step toward making that happen.

At the TED Summit last night, TED Prize Winner Sarah Parcak announced
a new project to develop an online citizen science crowd sourced platform that will utilize satellite imagery to find, monitor, and protect archaeological and cultural sites across Peru. This project, under the auspices of GlobalXplorer, is a partnership among TED, the National Geographic Society, Digital Globe and Parcak. Sarah also announced that Peru will be the first country into which the platform will be introduced, and SPI will be GlobalXplorer's partner there.  How awesome is that!  We are thrilled!

The TED Prize amplifies big ideas from visionary leaders in order to spark global change. GlobalXplorer represents Parcak's vision for empowering the world's citizens to discover and save their cultural heritage.

SPI will serve as the GlobalXplorer official in-country cultural heritage partner in Peru, as part of the 2016 TED Prize. SPI will lead on-the-ground efforts to investigate and preserve sites in danger identified on the GlobalExplorer platform, implementing its renowned capacity building program and related sustainable preservation paradigm as well as coordinating other educational and research initiatives. SPI will also advise GlobalXplorer with respect to archaeological and heritage matters in Peru.

And our very own Dr. Luis Jaime Castillo, renowned Peruvian archaeologist and SPI's Vice President for South America, will serve as Parcak's co-principal investigator with respect to GlobalXplorer in Peru.

We are thrilled that these organizations are joining us to empower women and give communities the tools they need to thrive economically. This partnership, launching in Peru, marks the beginning of a powerful worldwide collaboration to scale SPI's proven track record alleviating poverty and preserving the past.

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE THIS WORK!

Building partnerships like this is exciting! They enable us to do our important work at a greater scale and have a bigger impact. We wish scaling and entering into big partnerships was cheap and meant we didn't have to ask you for money.  But as we build more futures and save more pasts, your financial support makes our work possible.  It pays for our capacity building and training programs that allow community members to create their sustainable and life changing businesses.  Most of these community members are women, otherwise excluded from the economy of these very macho societies.  Your help enables us to provide communities the tools they need to be self-reliant and thrive.  They build futures and save pasts.

Thank you again for your continued support and for helping us take advantage of this fantastic new opportunity,
