Weekly update for MCC Brighton

Canada, here we come!

After seeming to take for ever to arrive, SJ, Suzy and I actually fly out to Canada tomorrow morning. OK there is the downside of an early start, a 9 hour flight and Airline food but it is here. Sooooooo excited.

The 26th General Conference, is being held in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. In a very nice Fairmont Hotel, near the water, sounds idyllic.

This will be a Historic General Conference as we meet to vote in a New Moderator and New Governing Board for our denomination. There will also be awesome worship, challenging work shops, supportive affinity groups and some very useful training opportunities. There will of course also be chances to meet and socialize with MCC'ers from all over the world, swap stories, share experiences and insights. We look forward to bringing back lots of stories and sharing them, along with what we have learnt during our time at conference, with everyone at MCC Brighton and our sister churches.

So, I was thinking, maybe i should do some updates from the conference. So while we are in Canada I will send an update or two about how things are going and what we have been up to. Make sure you check out the website, Facebook Page and Twitter for news and pictures.

So what is happening while we are away? Well, despite how we feel life will go on as usual.

Although there will not be a service on 3rd July there is a great service planned for 10th July.

On the 17th there is a charity concert called “Sounds of Summer” at the Hove Methodist Church, Portland Road starting at 6pm.
This is a community event and features local artists and choirs.

Bible Cafe is taking a break until 4th August, when we will return, renewed, refreshed and ready to delve into the Bible even deeper.

Have a truly blessed and joyful week.

Andrew

Further afield

Pride is fast approaching so come and join us in the parade on 6th August at 11am starting at Hove Lawns and really let loose.

We also have a stall in the community tent in the park this year, so drop by and say hello.

On Sunday 7th starting at 6pm we are having an open-air service in the Gardens at Brighthelm, so take a break from the craziness of the weekend, sing with us, pray with us and just enjoy a little bit of peace.
