Since Castro Cares has started our homeless outreach, workers have provided support, outreach and offered services to 3,073 people at risk on the streets in the Castro & Upper Market. Of these folks, 1,973, or 64%  have accepted some type of help. 
 

 

On the law enforcement side, Castro Cares is enforcing existing city laws and providing care when needed.

In the 2nd quarter (April - June), Castro Cares Uniformed Foot Patrols reported 806 incidents.

- July 31st, suspicious person looking into cars on the 400 block of Castro, arrested for parole violation
- July 29th, fight breaking out, taken into custody
- July 22nd, seven (7) males moved along in bike lane behind Safeway
- July 2nd, two separate instances of medics called to respond to individuals in distress

These are only a few examples of the positive work being done by Castro Cares. Cares Cares truly is making a difference.

Without your support the 33 people mentioned above would not have been provided a shelter reservation, the suspicious person on the 400 block would not have been arrested and quite possibly could have added to the number of car break-ins in the neighborhood.
