It seems like only yesterday we were pulling into the JAARS center in Waxhaw, NC. Now after thousands of rivets bucked, hours spent in the classroom with knowledge gained and lifelong friendships forged, Aviation Orientation is over. Some highlights were the PT6 engine maintenance course, the Bell Long Ranger helicopter hands on maintenance and the Quest Kodiak Aircraft overview course. These three courses where extremely helpful in that the fleet in Papua New Guinea is composed of four PT6 powered Kodiak aircraft  and 2 Bell Long Ranger helicopters. Of all the things I learned during orientation two things stand out the most. First, JAARS willingness to partner with other organizations that may not have the proper tools or infrastructure to finish a job, or because it benefits both organizations. I saw this in the way we partnered with ABWE to help the Stoner Family make progress on their Cessna 206 project. Samaritans Purse partnered with us to work on their Bell Long Ranger to gain valuable training. Finally, Covington Aircraft Engines sent us their maintenance expert Ron Hollis to teach our PT6 class. The second thing that stood out is the longevity and amazing commitment of the instructors and the hangar personnel to support Bible translation. Many of these men have completed 20 plus years overseas and have come back to continue working here at JAARS. It was truly inspiring to work alongside and glean from these men who have helped reach so many of the Bibless with the Word of God in their heart language.  Thank you for partnering with us so I could get this practical training for my job in PNG!  Next up is our Inter-Cultural Communications class (ICC). Tonita and I will be taking this class together, along with all 3 kids. This is an intense class that will add to the spiritual, emotional and cross cultural side of our training.

Praise & Prayer
1.  Praise we have completed the first part of our training.  Many deep friendships were built and God grew us in many ways.
2.  A dear friend made an Excel program for us so we can inventory each item we need to send to PNG.  This may sound small but it is a HUGE blessing to our family!  It means we can keep track of each bin, and all the details that go into our shipment.

1. Pray as we have a few weeks before our next class. We are trying to get some much needed family time.  We also need to buy and pack our shipment, do our paperwork for Visas and work permits, medical appointments, homework for our upcoming class, and continue building our Wycliffe Ministry team! Just a few things, each is equally important.  Pray for wisdom, for monthly financial partners to join, that we can use our time wisely and for our shipment to come together.
2.  Pray as we plan our trip back to CA.  We are planning to see a few sights but are also hoping to speak at churches and with people who will want to partner with us.

January 2017 Hopefully on a plane to PNG with our Wycliffe partnership team and ministry budget at 100% complete! This has been a long time coming, even typing this chokes me up.  Not because I'm sad but it's amazing to see the long journey and and how God has gone before us each step of the way. It seems like a HUGE mountain still to climb; but our God specializes in the seemingly impossible!  We can't wait to look back and see how He moves and how you all will be a part of that.
