Please enjoy issue number two of our brand-new quarterly newsletter - The Patchwork.

We truly believe in what we do, and a significant part of what we do involves creating and facilitating connections; connections between families and their community, and between those families and their communities and the resources they need to thrive. We hope that this newsletter will act as another extension of our role and vision - a common thread of connection between you and your community.

Be sure to also follow us on social media to stay as up to date as possible.
Do you have a Family Futures story or experience to share?

We would love to hear from you. We are in the business of building up communities by empowering families and individuals, and we really want to know how you think we are doing. If you have recently been involved with one of our programs or services, maybe frequently attend our special events, have volunteered with us ... we would like to know how that experience was for you.

Here are a couple quick stories shared so far:

"I found that the Music & Motion program was perfectly appropriate for my daughter. The program is very balanced allotting a certain amount of time for getting ready, for song and movement activities, with time for free play and a snack. It allowed my daughter to see what other children are doing and how they are behaving and as a result improved some of her behaviours. My daughter is very happy with the time she gets to spend with the other children."

"We are very fortunate to participate in the Family Future’s Family Mentorship Program. Our home visitor is expertly trained and experienced in baby and early childhood development. She comes to see us every month and always brings fun and interesting toys, books and activities for our little one. She shares her insights, answers questions, and lets us know about the variety of resources, activities and programs in our community. She has even made a couple of referrals for our little one which have brought piece of mind around a specific developmental concern and thankfully found solutions for our little one’s sleeping troubles. This program helped us as parents and caregivers to have peace of mind, and gain access to the many ideas and resources that are available to parents.  As first-time parents, it is wonderful to have such experienced and knowledgeable people as part of our support team. We always look forward to our visit and what our home visitor will share with us next"

So, please let us know if you would like to share your experience, or perhaps even be featured in one of our upcoming newsletters!

FFRN STAFF SPOTLIGHT

NILA - Family Future's Fabulous Office Administrator
This is a new feature going forward, where we will take a quick moment to feature some of the amazing people that help make up the Family Futures you know.

Meet Nila, our Office Administrator. She is the glue that keeps everything together, and we would be lost without her. Many of you have probably seen her smiling face greet you as you walk through the front door of our administration site. We asked Nila a few questions, here are her answers:

Where were you born?
Chile.

If you could travel to anywhere in the world where would it be? Ok, top 2.
Greece and Peru.

If you could speak another language, what would it be?
Portuguese.

In what ways are you the same as your childhood self?
I’m still insecure sometimes, and I still love treats!

Who is your hero and why?
My mom. She gave up a career to stay at home to raise me and my siblings, and is always doing things for others. I wish I was half the woman she is and I’m very proud to be her daughter.

What do you love the most about your job?
I love the significant impact we make on individuals and families, just with education and by providing fun activities. I equally love the people I work with. Everyone here has a passion for what they do and they are all smart, fun, hardworking people.

Thanks, Nila! We love working with you too.
