Let's stay connected: UWC RBC Newsletter

Two years ago, UWC Robert Bosch College officially opened it's doors to 103 students from all over the world - the founding generation of our school. We joined the UWC movement as the 13th College, the first and only one in Germany. On May 22nd, we said our good-byes to a group of pioneers through a moving Closing Ceremony. We can now look back to two years completed, full of ups and downs, but above all full of wonderful shared experiences. These, we would like to share with you, students, alumni, staff, parents, host families, sponsors and friends of the College! Three times a year, we will publish a newsletter with hopefully new and relevant information on life at UWC Robert Bosch College in Freiburg. Welcome and we hope to stay connected!

Review: Our first Closing Ceremony

On May 22nd, we celebrated our first Closing Ceremony, congratulating our founding generation. 103 students received their RBC certificates, personally handed out by their tutors. In addition to students Lucius, Luizer and Liza, teacher Lydia White as well as Rektor Laurence Nodder, our Chairman of the board, Dr. Christof Bosch, gave a speech during the two-hour-long event. Watch the complete Closing Ceremony live on our YouTube Channel.

"Congratulations to the 1st generation of students! Congratulations to Christian Bock as Director of Studies and congratulations to the teachers! Back at home in Southern Africa we say that it takes a village to raise a child. Congratulations and thank you to all who have played their role as members of the UWC Robert Bosch College village."

Monastery garden to become official school garden: Garden Pedagogue Eva-Maria Schüle and her team have applied for our historical monastery garden to become an official school garden, certified by the Baden-Württemberg ministery for agriculture. A delegation came to visit our school in June, in a few weeks time, we'll learn whether we will be certified -- fingers crossed! More about the initiative here.

A new face at the College: Starting September, Tracy will be our new school nurse, replacing Beate Sänger. Tracy is a U.S. native who has lived in Freiburg for over 20 years. Prior to joining us, Tracy has worked at the heart center in Freiburg. She studied Health Fitness Management and has written a novel (yes!!) - learn more when you meet her. Welcome, Tracy!
Meet the Alumi Co-editor
Moving forward, our recent graduate Augustine from the Netherlands (UWC RBC '01) will be in charge of supplying alumni stories from all over the world -- our bridge between the College and our alumni community: "I chose to work on the newsletter because I enjoy writing articles and learning more about my peers' stories and where they are currently. It is a chance for me to stay connected with the latest news about RBC."

Future Plans: Find out what our graduates will do after UWC. The graphic displays countries of study, as well as other occupations. Looks like the U.S. is the lucky one this year!
