WATER IS LIFE
Peter Neill on Alternative Radio

How important is access to clean water? Just ask the residents of Flint, Michigan. Or the people of Cochabamba, Bolivia. Or Syria, the West Bank, Brazil, or countless other countries and communities where people are struggling with supply, access, contamination, and uncertainty. ‪‎Water‬ is THE global issue of our time. In this one hour lecture broadcast by Alternative Radio, W2O Director Peter Neill speaks about why the ‪‎ocean‬ matters and what it has to do with our fresh water future.

Water is Life: Peter Neill on Alternative Radio
with host David Barsamian
Recorded in Eugene, Oregon on March 03, 2016

It will include essays which outline solutions, innovations, and inspirations for the ways in which water and ocean are linked and why access to fresh water is contingent upon the health of the ocean.

THE OCEAN TODAY: OCEAN CLIMATE
Ocean Today: Climate

OCEAN CLIMATE offers the opportunity to explore the complex relationship between ocean and climate and the many ways they affect one another. This section offers key issues, possible responses, and excellent resources on the challenging situations examined here.

We also invite you to join an interactive global conversation about ocean and climate, to participate in discussions and express your views about these key ocean issues by visiting the World Ocean Forum.

WORLD OCEAN EXHIBITS

World Ocean Exhibits can be viewed online or downloaded and installed at your institution. These exhibits are focused, evocative, timely, and are made possible through the support of our sponsors. They will fit in small spaces, are economical to produce, and are well-suited for schools, libraries, museums and aquariums. Subjects range from exploration, maritime culture, art, literature, to shipbuilding, transportation, trade, and more. We aim to expand our maritime collection and exhibit offerings by amplifying third party exhibits. We seek additional exhibits that have focused, evocative, and timely subject matter. If you have or know of an exhibit that would be well-suited for this site and audiences worldwide, please contact us.

World Ocean Radio: Greenland and the Future of the Arctic
Greenland
World Ocean Radio host Peter Neill recently returned from the Arctic Circle Forum in Nuuk, Greenland, where he made some interesting observations about those in attendance and the shifting attitudes away from the business-as-usual interests in Arctic resources toward more assertive ideas by Greenlanders to create new opportunities using their resources and investing in the area's people within the context of historical values and cultural traditions.

World Ocean Radio: World Ocean Council
World Ocean Council
The World Ocean Council is an international leadership alliance focused on ocean sustainability, stewardship and science. In this week's episode of World Ocean Radio we dive into their work, their mission, and their membership. Their recent emphasis on the Polar regions has raised a number of questions about sustainability versus access to resources, development of systems versus protection of fragile ecosystems, and corporate interests versus the health and well-being of indigenous peoples.

World Ocean Radio: World Ocean Day
World Ocean Day
Every June 8th we celebrate World Ocean Day, a day to recognize our relationship with the ocean through global connection and stewardship. In this episode of World Ocean Radio we discuss what World Ocean Day is meant to do and ask, "What does it take for the will of the people to coalesce around a single issue, to be informed and changed into a voice for change?"
