Where were you before the Internet?
In 1966, before the internet even existed, the College of Engineering at UC Santa Barbara was officially established. In fact, under the direction of Electrical and Computer Engineering Professor Glen Culler, our college was chosen as one of the first four nodes of the original ARPANET in 1969. For half a century, our research has been impacting society and making positive advances in the way we carry out our lives with new technologies, discoveries, and innovations.
To kick-off our year-long 50th anniversary celebration, we are launching a twice monthly email newsletter with the latest announcements, activities, profile features, and events to commemorate this milestone year.
We invite you to participate by sharing your engineering stories from back in the day, to highlight how the UCSB Engineering community has changed the world in half a century.
