Wine and Food Day perfect way to toast Festival

Thousands are expected to flock to Queens Park this Saturday for the G&S Engineering Wine and Food Day.

The popular annual event is just one of the highlights of the 2016 Mackay Mazda Festival of Arts, which begins tomorrow with Gala in the Gardens at the Meadowlands amphitheatre and runs until July 17.

NAIDOC Week celebrated

We’ve played a big part in NAIDOC Week celebrations this week.

Local festivities kicked off with the annual NAIDOC flag raising ceremony at the Civic Precinct on Monday.

Both Artspace and Mackay City Library are also hosting NAIDOC-related exhibitions.

Mayor backs #buymackay

Our Mayor Greg Williamson has officially launched the Mackay Chamber of Commerce’s #buymackay campaign.

The purpose of the #buymackay campaign is to raise awareness in the small business community for businesses to support other local businesses, which could potentially generate an extra $10 million plus per year in local economic activity.

Boat and trailer prize has ‘Place’ in Sarina

Lucky Sarina resident Rebekah Place has collected a boat and trailer package, valued at $13,600, after winning our #MackayPride competition.

More than 2000 people shared what they love about our region to enter the competition.

We partnered with Sea FM and Sugar City Marine to run the competition to promote the positive attributes of our region.

New MECC manager no stranger to the stage

Our new MECC and Events manager is Andrew Bobeldyk.

He has been appointed to the role after 12 months as acting manager.

Find out how when he was growing up he had aspirations of being an actor before realising he was a “terrible waiter”.
