Tourism 2020 Goal Likely to be Exceeded: Tourism Research Australia
Tourism Forecasts 2016 was released by Tourism Research Australia on 14 July 2016. The report reveals that total overnight spend is forecast to reach $127 billion by the year 2020, exceeding the Tourism 2020 target of $115 billion per year.
Digital Disruption - The Effects on Jobs and Employment
A joint project undertaken by the CSIRO and TAFE Queensland has identified that workers will need to learn and re-skill in an ongoing fashion to keep up with existing and new job requirements emerging from continuous technological change. This two-part 'Focus on' topic features the impact on employment and skills of the phenomenon often described as ‘digital disruption’. Part 1 considers the effects on jobs and employment while the other looks at the implications for skills and training. Read more.
Developing the Tourism Workforce - APEC Research
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is seeking tourism businesses’ input into an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) project titled Developing the Tourism Workforce of the Future through Labour and Skills Development, Certification, and Mobility in the APEC Region.The project is being delivered by EarthCheck and Griffith University. Hundreds of Jobs on Offer at Crown Towers
Crown Towers Perth is expected to stimulate the Western Australian economy by attracting more intrastate, interstate and international visitors bringing more tourist dollars and creating jobs for hundreds of people. Total VET Activity - Students and Courses 2015
The National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) have released a publication outlining the Total VET activity in 2015 by Australian training providers. The total VET activity is now collected from all types of providers and not just the providers receiving Commonwealth and state funding. Read more.
