Match Reports
Mens Vic League 1
DOUBLE-DUMPED OUT OF THE TOP 4
The Brumbies' poor run of form continued with a 3-2 loss to Casey. Any more losses could see The Stables re-named "The Findus Factory" (for those that don't know, search "Findus horse meat scandal" in your selected search engine), however the boys will #giddyup and turn this around under the guidance of the Coaches Harper, Lee and Allen, harshly dubbed by the tabloids as the Three Stooges after this latest loss. Failure to prepare is preparing to fail - the old adage that often rings true.
There was a lot to be said about certain individuals' preparations for this game, and the score line suggests preparations may not have been thorough enough. This may prompt a review as to whether more prep time can be squeezed in (or out) before a game, although if you are someone who likes plenty of prep time, it is advised that you don't travel to games with Lachie Richo.
DJ MoonPig's preparations were questioned by warm-up guru and man-bun legend Al Payne (and indeed the whole squad), when he set off for a set of "left and rights" with a call of "up". DJ MoonPig can be forgiven though, as reports were that he played a banging set at Revellers the night before. The game began with an attempted aerial bombardment from the Brumbies, and Casey took the lead after a remarkable pick from a perfectly executed "overhead", before doubling their lead soon after. Not much happened until the last 10, when the Brumbies got a goal back, only to decide they didn't like being a goal behind so they gave Casey a third. They then changed their mind again, and brought it back to 3-2. End of game.
The post-match debrief brought on important question: Gaz, Jason or Scoobs? Not a question of who wore it best, but rather the Brumbies' Head & Shoulders deal is now under threat after the shampoo giant expressed its annoyance at the selection of all three gentlemen in the same side. This also lead to much confusion for import Charles Shipperley, who tried to blame the knock to his head for not knowing who was who - but deep down we all know he was hungover for the second time in 3 weeks (I bring your attention to the La Trobe chunder fest). Coach Harper has stated he will not be dictated by the sponsors and reiterated his right to select his best squad, irrespective of their hairstyles.
Onwards to the Bridge Hotel, where losers beers were to be drunk. Thankfully these tend to go down the same way as winners beers! A game of kiss-chase was initiated, and, judging from the Instagram post the following morning, certain people were still in play well into Sunday... Top marks for perseverance. A bad day at the office for the Brumbies, but we will be back - join us at The Stables next time for 3 points and a some jolly good neighing.
And finally, good luck to Ben White and Al Payne as they leave us for two weeks to represent Victoria in the interstate champs. Go well gents!
Tickets can be brought individually or you can organise to buy a table.
