Children’s Home

We are so proud to see Putu and Richard graduate from High School this year. We are excited to see Putu and Richard embark on their next steps for their futures into vocational training. We are also proud of Kadek, Chika, Diki, Marta and Edo for graduating middle school and heading into senior high and also Dega for graduating primary school and continuing into middle school. Education is the key to change and opportunities for these kids. Thanks to all who get behind these kids bringing sponsorship, support and encouragement to their lives.
Staff Training

Empowering staff is very important in our foundation. In April we were very blessed to have Mark Robinson, an expert in child care, come and give training to our staff about working with and caring for children from stressful and traumatic backgrounds. Thank you Mark for spending your time and training us. With this training we are able to give better care for our children in all areas of Bali Life.
Little Miracles

Once again Little Miracles has been a blessing to Bali Life. Their regular visits, providing resources and teacher training is a big part of our educational programs. In April our Children's Home was also blessed with five new bicycles from Little Miracles. Our kids love having the new bikes to ride. Thank you to all who were part of this donation! Little Miracles not only spends time in the children's home and Harapan Bunda school, but they also head to the street centre and run some activities, lessons and sharing stories with our women and children there. we are grateful for the influence of LIttle Miracles in all departments of Bali Life.
Social Development
During the school holidays, children’s home kids have been spending some of their time on the farm helping out with the caring for animals and harvesting some vegetables. It is good for them to learn about the agricultural side of life and appreciate where their food comes from.
Some of our older girls have also been spending time helping in the street centre, caring for young children or teaching in the classrooms. It is positive results when the kids from the children’s home and street centre can spend time with each other and know we are all part of Bali Life family, just in different areas.
Torrents Valley Christian School

We had a team from Torrents Valley Christian School, Adelaide come to Bali Life in April. They helped on the farm, teaching at Sekolah Harapan Bunda, spent time with the children's home kids, and did some teaching and cleaning at the Street Centre. Their hard work is very much appreciated and it is great to see young people getting involved in social justice and serving others. Thank you so much to TVCS, the teachers who accompanied the trip, and the students who showed our kids how you can give, even when you’re still young. The Children’s Home and all the staff also want to say thank you for the day out at Canggu Splash Water Park, the fun day and the lunch you provided for us.
Farm
Our Self-Sustainable farm continues to flourish with abundance of produce for feeding our children's home. Fruit, vegetables, eggs, chickens, pigs, ducks. The farm continues growing and providing much needed food to keep us sustained. In May we welcomed Julio to the team of farmers and in June we farewelled Hendrik from the farm Hendrik served Bali Life for five years and is now going to pursue a different path, we wish him the best for his future. Thanks also to TVCS for building a new roof for our chicken coop and making the farm environment more practical.
Women's Centre

We are really grateful for everyone who has helped us in Bali Life Women’s Centre through donations, effort and time given to us. Your support means a lot to us. During April we welcomed our new volunteer Mathine, from America to our Centre. Mathine taught English to our women and children who come each week to our Centre. The women and children were very happy to learn more English with Mathine. Fransiska, also from America, and Anuschka from Belgium also joined our centre, Together they helped to teach English to women in our Community Class. Anuschka joined us as an intern and not only  has helped with English lessons, but also with administration and event planning. Thanks Mathine, Fransiska and Anuschka! We are also very grateful for the Little Miracles team who came and spent time teaching us and also donated children’s clothes to give to the families we work with in the community. The children were very excited to receive the much needed new clothes. Thank you! In May Joar also joined our centre from Norway. Joar heads up our Friday Kid’s Club games and also helps with our Thursday English KidZone class. Thanks for being an awesome help Joar.
Feeding Families

Our Feeding Families Program for the poor families around us has continued to grow. it has been wonderful to be a blessing to the community in this way. From April until June, 24 families have been blessed with meals through this program. We want to appreciate Geoff and Christine Graham as well as Bali Life Farm for supporting this program providing donations and food for these families.
Street Centre

Our Street Centre continues to grow and grow. In June we had a total of twenty women registered in our women’s workshop. We also have almost 50 children who came into our centre over the month of June. Plus the many children and women we visit on the streets during our Monday Night Street Ministry Visits. That is an amazing impact, meaning more than 100 children and their families have been impacted over this past year. Thank you to all supporters, customers, sponsors and partners who come alongside Bali Life Street Centre to bring Hope, Dignity and Purpose to the children and families in Denpasar and Kuta.
Welcome and Farewell Staff

We welcomed Defry to our team in April. Defry fits in well with the Street Centre team assisting a lot with the administration, teaching classes and connecting with the kids and also the mums in the women’s workshop. Thanks for being part of bringing hope, dignity and purpose!
We also farewelled Joy in June, Joy joined our team in September 2015 to help our children bridge their way into formal education. After our four students completed their national exams in May, Joy decided to move on to focus on completing his education with his college thesis. All the best for your future.
Keep Bali Clean

In April some of our kids had the opportunity to go to Ubud Monkey Forest and attend a seminar about looking after the environment. They learned the effects of too much plastic not being disposed of correctly, and the effects on animals and the environment when rubbish is just thrown on the ground and ends up in the ocean.

In June the women's workshop and some of our kids were also invited to a market at Green School. During this time, our women were able to sell some of the items they have made, while the kids learned about why it is important to look after the environment and how everything is connected through the eco-cycle.
World Street Kid’s Day

Thanks to Canggu Community School for running a fundraiser on World Street Kid’s Day. Our children were given the opportunity to sing and share a testimony of their time in the Street Centre in front of all the school kids, teachers and other visitors. Thank you for this opportunity, your support, and raising the funds for our Street Centre.
Women’s Workshop

Our Women’s Workshop is also growing as they are receiving more opportunities for selling their items at local markets in Sanur, in Kuta with BIWA, and Canggu School, and in Green School’s Sustainable Solutions Market. Our women’s workshop is growing, now with 14 women regularly attending for work. Thank you to all our customers who continually provide work for our women, and for those who sponsor a table at various markets for us to sell our items and promote Bali Life Foundation around different areas of Bali. Selling at the markets is a great learning opportunity for our women as they have to learn about handling money, and also communicating with customers, and sharing about how they make and create the various items, whether through recycled bottles to make glasses, sewing projects from new and used materials, or any of the other items the women are learning to create. It is wonderful seeing how the women can learn these skills and live a life of purpose and dignity.
Volunteers and Visitors

We appreciate all the volunteers and visitors who come to our centre to help how they can. Thank you to Lane and Barbie from Australia for coming and bringing donations of materials and also craft, and medical supplies. Thank you to Manu from France for coming and playing with our kids and donating some toys for our kid’s to play with. Thank you to Nabil for spending time with our kids and also helping translate our classes with some of our interns.

Thank you also to Jan and Hanne for the past four months you have spent in our centre connecting with the kids, teaching classes, bringing donations and new energy to our kids and helping out where you can. Also thanks for taking our kids from the centre and Kuta area that we visit in Monday nights to Circus Water Park. Our kids had a great time! Farewell and good luck in the rest of your studies in Belgium.
GRII Holiday Program

Thank you to Gereja Republik Injil Indonesia for inviting our kids to your 3-day holiday program in June. The kids had a great time learning and creating and spending time there and making new friends. Thank you also for providing transport for our kids, there and back each day.
Graduations

We are so proud to announce that our four children (wearing medals in photo) who studied through bridging school this year all passed their National Tests and are now eligible for going to formal education. The friends and families of our students – Muhlis, Sugeng, Lutfi and Putu – joined the graduation ceremony and we’re all proud of their achievements. Thank you so much to Annette for sponsoring these children through Youth Shine Academy. We’d also like to thank Ibu Jen, Pak Wayan and all the staff and teachers at YSA for your support and help for our children this year. We are so excited for the next step for these kids into formal education and brighter futures. If you would like to sponsor one of these children into formal education, please contact info@balilife.org for more information with: Street Centre Scholarship as the email subject. We also are proud of Made, he completed his first grade of middle school - class 7 - and is looking forward to continuing his education in class 8.
