Ian Kinsler and Ryan Braun are candidates for two final roster spots in this year's All-Star Game

 Games played July 4-5, 2016

All-Star update

No Jewish players were voted onto this year's All-Star Game rosters, but two are among the 10 players (five each from the A.L. and N.L.) who are vying for two final roster spots in MLB's 'Final Vote' promotion.

Detroit 2B Ian Kinsler, who's enjoying one of his best seasons of his 11-year career, is a candidate for the A.L. slot. Kinsler was an All-Star in 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2014, so adding 2016 would continue the pattern. He is up against Evan Longoria, Dustin Pedroia, Michael Saunders and George Springer. (See video.)

Up for the N.L. slot is Milwaukee LF Ryan Braun, a six-time All-Star who made the roster every year from 2008-12 and again in 2015. (See video.)

July 5 games

Oakland 3B Danny Valencia hit a three-run, opposite-field home run and singled in an 11-4 loss to his teammates in Minnesota. This season, he's 8-for-18 against the Twins, with 6 extra-base hits and 6 RBIs.

Brewers LF Ryan Braun singled and walked in a 5-2 win over Washington.

Toronto CF Kevin Pillar singled, hit a sacrifice fly, and was caught stealing in an 8-3 win over Kansas City.

Detroit 2B Ian Kinsler went 0-for-2 with a walk in a 12-1 drubbing by Cleveland.

Reliever Richard Bleier did not play in the Yankees' 9-0 win over the White Sox.

Reliever Scott Feldman did not play in Houston's 5-2 win over Seattle.

July 4 games

Milwaukee LF Ryan Braun went 0-for-4 and made his first error of the season in a 1-0 win over Washington. Braun actually singled in the first inning, but the hit was erased when umpires ruled that he had batted out of order. Brewers manager Craig Counsell took the blame after the game. Milwaukee last made that mistake in 1996.

Toronto CF Kevin Pillar singled in a 6-2 win over Kansas City, but teammate Edwin Encarnacion was tossed out trying to score on the play.

Oakland 3B Danny Valencia doubled in a 3-1 victory over the Twins.

Detroit 2B Ian Kinsler went hitless in a 5-3 loss to Cleveland.

Reliever Scott Feldman did not play in Houston's 2-1 win over Seattle.

Reliever Richard Bleier did not play in the Yankees' 8-2 loss to the White Sox.
