It's Parade Season!

Last week my family and the team joined colleagues from the City of Seattle to march for equality in the 42nd annual Pride Parade. It was incredible to see so many celebrate diversity and inclusiveness -- what a great parade marching experience!

Looking for more parades this summer? Join us this Saturday as my family leads the Wallingford Family Parade, starting at 11:00 am. You can find more information on this neighborhood Seafair tradition, here.

Join us for a Lunch & Learn

Join us on June 14th at 12:00 pm in Council Chambers to hear a discussion of solutions to create access to opportunity in communities most impacted by the threat of displacement. We will be joined by members of the Race and Social Equity Task Force organizations to learn more about the Equitable Development Implementation Plan, which identifies ways to ensure Seattle will grow equitably.

In this joint meeting between the Planning, Land Use & Zoning and Civil Rights, Utilities, Economic Development & Arts committees, we will have several guests come and speak about their organizations, community needs, and community-identified projects.

New Saturday Office Hours at the U District Farmers Market

With our office's commitment to being easily accessible to constituents, I am excited to announce that every Saturday through September we will be at the U District Farmers Market between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm.

Either myself or one of my staff members will be at a table near the manager's tent to answer your questions. We look forward to seeing you there!

Celebrating the University District Food Bank's New Location

On July 11th, the University District Food Bank will be opening the doors of its brand new location with a new name: University Commons. Eight times bigger than its former food bank location, University Commons will provide not only meals, but housing and employment opportunities.

I'm humbled by the great work being done throughout the city to address homelessness, and innovative models such as University Commons inspire my office to action. Read more about the goals I've set for how I want to help make an impact, here.

Yours in civil service,
