Nehemiah 2
 This past week we kicked off a new sermon series on Nehemiah/Ezra. We saw that God gave Nehemiah a burden - to see the shame and vulnerability of God's people removed. The shame of God's people was related to the destruction of Jerusalem, it's temple and walls, and the exile of the people to Assyria and Persia. The destruction and exile of the people was directly related to their disobedience. So God places a burden on Nehemiah's heart to restore the people's relationship with God through repentance, renewal, and rebuilding. Hope is about to be reborn.
If you missed last weeks message over the holiday weekend, I encourage you to get on line and listen to the setup message to the series. Go to crestviewchurch.org and click on the messages tab. You will see it there. You will receive some history and background to the time of Nehemiah/Ezra that will be helpful moving forward in the series.
This week: Nehemiah 2. Nehemiah is a good example of Godly character. As you read chapter 2, what character traits does Nehemiah live out? What is Nehemiah's first reaction when confronted with a challenge? (Clue: it has to do with getting on your knees.) Notice as you read the movements of the story: Making his 'burden' known, prayer, and then asking for what he needs.
In chapter 2 the King of Persia asks Nehemiah a question, "What is it you want?" This is a powerful question. In our lives today, this could be a question that comes to us directly from God, "What is it you want?" Just as the King of Persia has the power to grant Nehemiah's request, so God has the power to grant ours. So if we are asked this question by God, how would we answer? Has God given us a 'burden' in our life that restores others in a right relationship with God or with others? When Nehemiah's burden is clarified - he makes it known, he prays, and then he moves forward with action.
Has God laid a 'burden' on you? Not a weight that weighs us down, rather, a God-given passion to right something that is wrong?

Results of the Congregational Meeting
Last Sunday, June 26, we met after the service for our annual Congregational Meeting. During the meeting the 2016-17 budget was approved unanimously. New elders and deacons are:

Pastor Mark Installation Service and Brunch
 On Sunday, July 17, Mark Quist will be officially installed as pastor of Crestview Church. We will praise God for His mercy and blessings on our Fellowship through His gift to us of the Quist Family.
To make this a proper celebration before the Lord, we will have a feast (brunch) afterwards in the Fellowship Hall. Please bring a dish to pass--whatever you would like to bring (i.e., egg dish, fruit, cheesecake....). And, of course, if you can't bring a dish then please be sure to bring yourself!

Sign up for Crestview camping!
Three weeks to go! Everyone who would like to go camping but has not yet signed up for the splendid camping trip on July 29-31, it is time to send that email to Eleanor!
We have camp sites reserved in beautiful Golden Gate State Park, just 50 minutes drive from Boulder. If camping isn’t your thing, then plan to come for the day on Saturday. All you will miss is 2 nights of questionable sleep. There will be vaguely organized activities during the day on Saturday, all accessible straight from the campsite (hiking, biking (road and mountain), fishing and of course hanging out at camp). We will have our Crestview service in God’s amazing outdoors around 5pm on Saturday. Crestview will cover the cost of the campsite, you will be responsible for the park entry fee ($7 per day). Invite your outdoor loving neighbors!
