'Excellent' inspection report for Chigwell School
Chigwell School has been celebrating an excellent inspection report.
A team of Independent Schools Inspectorate inspectors visited the school before Easter and found that teaching, pupils’ achievements and learning, the curriculum and extra-curricular provision, the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of the pupils, pastoral care and boarding were all ‘excellent’.
Headmaster Michael Punt said: "The School is delighted with the report which reflects the consistent hard work of the whole school community, pupils and staff who collectively do their very best to help Chigwell pupils fulfil their potential."
"The report includes many very pleasing comments."
They include statements such as:
* Pupils demonstrate very positive attitudes to learning. They are enthusiastic and committed
* An excellent range of extra-curricular activities contributes significantly to the educational, intellectual and personal development of pupils
* Teaching benefits from the excellent relationships between staff and pupils. At all times, it promotes tolerance and respect
* Pupils leave the school as mature, tolerant and well-rounded individuals who have a very clear understanding of their responsibilities and display excellent standards of personal development
* The long-term vision of the Governors and leadership is embedded in the school development plan to which all departments contribute. This provides clear educational direction
* The school has benefited from considerable development since the previous inspection.
Chigwell will use the report, which can be read in full on the school website, as part of the ongoing development of the school.
Mr Punt added: "However we are delighted that the inspectors appreciated, as we do, what a positive community exists at Chigwell."
