Call for 7 PhD Research Fellowships at ICTA-UAB 'María de Maeztu' Unit of Excellence

The ICTA-UAB offers 7 scholarships to candidates who would like to pursue their Ph.D. degree within the ICTA-UAB Unit of Excellence ‘María de Maeztu’ Strategic Research Programme. Deadline for applications is 8 pm (CET) on 10th July 2016. (+info)

Applicants invited for PhD research position: Urban form and Low-Carbon Cities

The project aims to undertake spatial computable general equilibrium (CGE) modelling of urban systems to study the relationship between urban form and climate impacts of cities. (+info)

Sino-European workshop on eco-cooperative theory and practice at ICTA-UAB

A Sino-European workshop on eco-cooperative theory and practice took place at ICTA-UAB with the participation of researchers from the Peking University, ICTA-UAB and Universitat Ramon Llull (URL).  The purpose was to promote an exchange of ideas on how alternatives of and to development are conceived and put into practice. (+info)

NEWS                               

The ICTA-UAB will organize the third edition of the Summer School on Degrowth and Environmental Justice from July 4th- 15th. This theory rejects economic growth and advocates the downscaling of production. The summer school will gather thirty high-level international researchers in the field of Degrowth and Environmental Justice. (+info)

The 2016 edition of the LIPHE4 Summer School will take place from 11-15 July 2016, at ICTA-UAB, in Bellaterra campus, Barcelona. The Summer School, entitled “The Nexus between Food, Energy, Water and Land-use: Quantitative Storytelling with MuSIASEM”, is organized in collaboration with the IASTE research group of the ICTA-UAB. NEWS                               

In Europe, pork is the most widely consumed meat with an annual average of almost 32 kg per capita, and it is also responsible for around 26 per cent of total CO2 emissions by the farming sector. This study carried out an environmental analysis of the carbon (CF) and water (WF) footprints derived from pork production in Catalonia, considering all stages of the production process. The results show that the production of feed is most responsible for the global impact of the chain, and that transportation also has a major influence. (+info)
