SCCAP Wins Awards at Community Action Association of PA's  Annual Conference

April 19-21, 2016 in Harrisburg, PA
A big round of applause to The Gleaning Project of South Central PA for winning CAAP's Distinguished Service: Community Engagement Award. Pictured (L to R) are SCCAP's executive director, Megan Shreve, Bridget Schell, Adams Co. Gleaning, and Renee Dodson, Franklin Co. Gleaning. The Gleaning Project has effectively gleaned nearly 304,000 pounds of fresh food which has reduced hunger and improved nutrition to low-income families and seniors throughout Adams & Franklin counties! Congratulations to CAAP's 2016 Self-Sufficiency Award winner, Rochelle Plummer, pictured with State Rep. Rob Kauffman at the SCCAP Franklin County office. The Self-Sufficiency Award is presented to individuals who embody hard work, determination, and success. Rochelle has worked steadily over the years as an active participant and advocate for the Support Circles of Franklin County program.  She also serves as a member of the SCCAP Board of Directors. The Community Walking Project of Franklin County

Free, fun, family-friendly weekly walks! Meets Saturday evenings at 7pm from various points throughout Chambersburg.

World Breastfeeding Week
Aug. 1st - 7th

The Gleaning Project invites you to their Community Potlucks!
Bring your family & friends to celebrate the bounty of the counties! Community potlucks will be held on the last Monday of each month at either SCCAP main office.
July 25th at 6pm in Gettysburg
August 29th at 6pm in Chambersburg
September 26th at 6pm in Gettysburg
SCCAP's Annual Back to School Project

 We are collecting & distributing school supplies (crayons, backpacks, pencil cases, etc.) for children in Adams Co. who do not have the resources to purchase these items. Donations can be dropped off (thru 8/15) at: SCCAP-Gettysburg Office, St. James Lutheran Church (York St.), The United Way, or GIANT. Straight A's for everyone!

Summer Food Drive: July 15-17
Donate 4+ non-perishable items and receive a $5 gift card to Hickory Falls in Hanover, PA. Drop-off is located at the Gettysburg Outlets Guest Services office.
September 5, 2016 is recognized as the International Day of Charity. Commemorate the day by getting involved in your community!
DID YOU KNOW....The Franklin County Homeless Shelter & Homeless Assistance Program (HAP) assisted more than 167 families last year?!
May 14, 2016 was the USPS National Letter Carriers' Annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive. This year, over 8400 pounds of food was collected and donated to the Adams County Food Pantry.  It was distributed to food insecure families and seniors throughout  our community!

June 22, 2016 - SCCAP Executive Director, Megan Shreve (far right) spent the day in Harrisburg participating in a WITF panel discussion on Chasing the Dream: Poverty and Opportunity in America. The Chasing the Dream project's focus is poverty in Pennsylvania and sharing stories of those who live it. Find out more about the initiative here.
June 3, 2016 - The Race Against Poverty 2016 was held in Chambersburg, PA and raised over $13,700 to fight poverty! Proceeds from this fundraiser go to the Support Circles of Franklin County initiative. Mark your calendar for next year's race date:
