Dear Parents
Another great week to be at Gateway School!
The weather was kind to Mr Judge and his team on Tuesday morning and I believe the Junior Sports events were enjoyed by all. I am so sorry I missed them.
We enjoyed three fantastic swimming galas on Thursday. Once again they all ran like clockwork due to the expert organisation of Mrs Hughes and the Chesham Pool staff. The races were keenly competed with some impressive swimming and some very close finishes. The House competition was also not decided until the last races in the Year 6 gala so it really was all to swim for.

Reception presents 'Commotion in the ocean' |
|
What a fantastic way to end the week with Reception’s production of ‘Commotion in the Ocean’. All of the children really rose to the occasion using their loud clear voices that they have been practising for the past few weeks. |

|
Wow what an exciting week Year 1 have had! It started off at the start of the week with Year 1 taking part in their sports day in front of lots of proud mums and dads. The children all tried incredibly hard and showed a great deal of team spirit amongst themselves of which the PE staff even commented on! |

Year 2 visit Mop End |
|
Year 2 had a fantastic trip to Mop End and we even caught a glimpse of the sun in the afternoon!
We started off in the classroom predicting what kind of creatures we might find in a woodland habitat and the children had lots of interesting ideas - we weren’t sure we would actually see some bears (some of us were quite pleased about this). |

Year 3 have fun making dramatic masks |
|
Year 3 have carried on their work on the Ancient Greeks in earnest this week. We extended last week's work on Greek theatres by making masks. The children thought about the emotion that they wanted to convey and how they could use their mask to do this, paying particular attention on the eyes and mouth. |

We started the morning with a whole school assembly, presented by Sasha Penfold, Rolls Royce Engines engineer (ably assisted by Mrs Cleary, Zach and Saskia’s Mum), which outlined the Bloodhound, Supersonic Car Project. Can you believe that the first land speed record was set at 39mph! |
