Our American Adventure

Lots of excitement since our last letter at the end of June. We've moved temporarily to the United States (July-January) so Todd can participate in the Creation Project at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

It's hard to believe the time is already coming to a close--on January 5th we fly back to Slovakia. It's gone fast, but we've crammed a lot into the past five months.

Elisabeth and Max Transition

Or main prayer request as we came to the States was for the kids' transitions to school. Thank you for praying! Both Elisabeth and Max have had great experiences while here in the States (see below). Please continue to pray for the more difficult transition back to Slovakia in January.

New Book Contract

I'm happy to report that I recently signed a contract with Brill for a book about the plot of Genesis. There's still a lot to do so the book won't come out until early 2018 but thank you for your prayers. Please continue to pray this would benefit our seminary in Slovakia and the church as a whole as we learn to better read and apply God's word.

Speaking of God's Word

I'm always glad when I get an opportunity to preach. In September I was asked to preach on creation for the chapel at Trinity and I also preached on God's Word at Faith Community in Davis, IL. Both sermons can be viewed on our website.

In November I gave two papers at theological conferences in San Antonio. One of them was about the Cain and Abel narrative and how it sets the whole plot of Genesis in motion.

The Creation Project

I've now completed the first four articles in a new theology series where I'm trying to help Evangelicals better understand the relationship between science and revelation. Here are the four articles so far:

Hunting, Climbing, Orchestra!

The kids have had amazing adventures. Max has joined a climbing team and will compete in regionals in December and he's also bonded with his uncle and filled our freezer with venison. Elisabeth has even had the chance to play violin with the Trinity Community Philharmonic Orchestra. Check out the clip in post.
