A NOTE FROM THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR...

Exactly four years ago (in July of 2012), I was hired as the Assistant Director of Yes, You Can Dance!. What I would say I love most about my job is getting to interact with all of the AMAZING members of our community. From our volunteers, to our Special Needs Ballroom students and their parents/caregivers, to the seniors who participate in our Senior Dance Socials, to our MS Ballroom participants, down to the organizations we partner with and our very own staff, I believe that Yes, You Can Dance! thrives largely because of all of the kind, inspiring, talented and dedicated people who are a part of it.  

Though we spread the word about our organization several ways, we have found word of mouth to be our most effective form of advertising. Please take a moment to share information about Yes, You Can Dance! with someone today! Your email, phone call, or face-to-face conversation with a neighbor, coworker, or even a stranger at the check-out line of the grocery store, could lead to a new community member, Dance Instructor, or donation. 

Can't wait to celebrate Yes, You Can Dance! with many of you at Yes, You Can Picnic 2!

Please remember to send in your videos!

This is going to be EPIC so don't miss out!  As summer is fast approaching we want our volunteers, students, caregivers, parents, board members and staff to send us a 30-45 second video of what inspires you at Yes, You Can Dance!  

 To get started simply give us your role identifier (ex. volunteer, student, mentor) then share with us what inspires you or your experience at YYCD.  Below are a couple of example questions that you can use for pointers.

* What is the most rewarding part of YYCD?

* What is the most memorable moment at YYCD?

* What is your favorite part of YYCD?

This will be shared publicly, therefore, make it as creative and fun as you would like. Please email the video to yycdpittsburgh@gmail.com.  You can use either a phone, Photo Booth on a laptop (which you will then need to export), or a camera. The format may include the following;

* MPEG-4 (.MP4)

* Google Drive

* .MOV (Apple Quick Time Movie) if you are a MAC user

* .FLV (Flash Video Format).

Now lights, camera, ACTION!

  On June 24th the Performance Team had the opportunity to dance in the sun while performing their incredible foxtrot number at Dancing in the Square!
