Detroit 2B Ian Kinsler walked and hit his 199th career home run in a 3-2 win over Tampa Bay. The solo shot put the Tigers up 2-1 and was Kinsler's 15th round-tripper of the season, more than he hit in all of 2015 (11) and 2013 (13).
Pittsburgh had men on second and third with two outs in the 9th inning and the game tied 2-2 when Pirates 2B Josh Harrison bunted down the third base line. Oakland 3B Danny Valencia's toss to first base beat Harrison by a hair to end the inning. Alas, Pittsburgh prevailed 4-2 in 10 innings. Valencia, who's hitting .313, went 0-for-5 for only the third time this season.
The Dodgers placed CF Joc Pederson on the 15-day disabled list. Pederson sprained his right shoulder last week running into an outfield wall to make a catch.

The rookie entered the game with one out in the bottom of the 6th and a runner on first, then quickly retired Alex Dickerson on a grounder and struck out Travis Jankowski on three pitches. In the 7th, he was replaced with one out and two men on base. A subsequent passed ball by Yankees C Brian McCann caused Bleier to be charged with an unearned run.
