New York Process Server Assault Bill Passes

In New York, process servers and members of New York State Professional Process Server association are celebrating a significant win in terms of process server rights. As of the last Assembly meeting, held on June 17th, 2016, a monumental bill making an assault on a process server a class D felony, which had previously passed in the Senate but faltered, has now officially been passed in the General Assembly.

Process Server Brings Suit Against Judge Who Had Him Wrongfully Arrested

In 2013, we reported on process server Steve Hartman, who was arrested by a judge he was attempting to serve. Hartman's pen camera documented the incident, which led to his eventual release and the completion of service. Hartman has now brought a suit against the judge, deputies, and several other conspirators, set to gain $2 million if he wins. In a new development, federal indictments have been filed against the judge and deputies.
