As an instructor I'm always adjusting my material for better understanding. Learning, like most everything in life, is unique to the individual. Everyone learns differently and at a different pace. This is especially important to consider when learning to paint because this requires you to think about so many things simultaneously. I encourage everyone to use multiple sources of information to learn: books, videos, magazines and of course, hands-on instruction. But that's only the first part of the puzzle. The second part requires the student to find there unique way of digesting, remembering and incorporating this info into their painting process. A student should consider how best they learn and retain information and then use that as a basis that allows for growth. Some people are visual learners and need images, others need specific steps. I retain info by writing it down, and I usually don't have to look at the written words again. Whatever you discover about yourself, practice that way of learning always. Practice and repetition are the best ways to have what you know available to you when you need it. You want it to become second nature to you! Whatever works best for you is what is important!
If you have questions or comments, please don't hesitate to contact me via email or phone. And remember… Art is a Journey!
