Mei News

With the opening festivities of residential tower De Verkenner in Utrecht and our Pitch at Provada Amsterdam behind us, Mei has started to work on several new projects. Such as the transformation of an empty office in Rijswijk into modern residential building De Generaal.
After the success of the Fenix Lofts, we now also accompany many buyers of apartments in the Gouda Cheese Warehouse and the Rijksadministratie to realize their ideal interior. Mei architects and planners wishes you a beautiful summer.

DE VERKENNER

Happy residents

In May we celebrated the official opening of De Verkenner, together with Mitros, Utrecht Alderman Paulus Jansen, the project directors and many enthusiastic new residents. Our client Mitros is very proud: It is a beautiful building and all apartments are rented. Mei wishes the new residents good luck with the decoration of their home. Read more about this project on our website.
PROVADA

Embracing the 70s

As an expert in the field of transformation projects, Mei joined this years edition of the ’transformation-square’ during the PROVADA property fair in Amsterdam. We presented our pitch on the transformation of the Batavia building on Laan van NOI in The Hague, called "Embracing the 70s”. Link to our proposal.
DE GENERAAL

New transformation project

Together with Aertgeerts and EyeOnProperty, Mei developed a smart plan to transform an empty office in Rijswijk into a modern and flexible apartment building for young people and seniors. A new glass facade with floor to ceiling windows gives great views around. This housing type is an enrichment of the current properties in Rijswijk. In a short time already many people have shown their interest. See for more information www.wonenindegeneraal.nl
DOLL'S HOUSE

Building together

All Mei staff and many friends have helped to construct the "poppetjeshuis" for the Doll's House project of Peter Masselink. Mei has shipped 5.000 model figures from China. One figure alone is not strong, but together these figures are capable to realize a stunning performance. This autumn the dollhouses will be exhibited and auctioned for charity: medical research for children with a metabolic energy problem.
Fenix I

'Muse frames'

Mei loves challenges. For each project we develop specific elements. The woven fabric along the galleries of the Schiecentrale and the facade panels of the Gnome Garage in Almere are two examples of product innovation by Mei. For Fenix I in Rotterdam Mei developed the so called ‘muse frames’: industrial frames, filled with netting, used around the terraces in alternation with glazed panels. Residents can lean on these frames and reflect on their lives, ‘musing’.
VIRTUAL TOUR

Oculus Rift

Finally we received our own Oculus Rift VR glasses. Mei uses 3D modeling for all new projects. The Oculus Rift allows us to test our designs and experience them. You can already see a virtual tour of the Fenix I Revit model via our website. Even more curious? You are welcome to visit our office and experience the virtual tour in three dimensions.

GOUDA CHEESE WAREHOUSE

Work in progress

Gouda Cheese Warehouse, a transformation project commissioned by White House Development, is under construction. Contractor Vergeer Bouw has recently done a lot of work. The 'cheese columns’ and some adjacencies have been removed and the foundation has been restored and expanded. The walls in the alley between the two original cheese warehouses are now visible. Along these walls next year two glass elevators will move up and down in the atrium. Follow the work in progress on our website.
