NEWS ON SWISS BIOBANKING PLATFORM

Dear All,
It is a pleasure to welcome you to our first SBP’s Newsletter.
With this tool, we will keep you regularly inform on our successes and ongoing projects.
Today I would like to give you an update on what has been achieved regarding ELSI, Quality, and WG but first some general information.
The Association has been created on June 1st and as of July 1st all our employees will have a SBP contract. We take this opportunity to thank SAMS for having managed the contracts until today.
The SBP Team is growing: we have 3 new hub coordinators for Basel, Geneva and Lausanne and one Quality Assistant, one ELSI Assistant and a lawyer, all starting July 1st. As for the other hub coordinators, discussions are still ongoing. You will find the organization chart on this link: http://www.swissbiobanking.ch/#organisation.

ELSI
Achieved:
WG has been launched.
Ongoing:
Involved in proposing a national template.
Writing the implementation guidelines: SBP is responsible for the “implementation guide for the general consent in hospitals”.
QUALITY
Achieved:
We are involved in the quality European WG (BBMRI) and participating to the creation of a self-assessment tool for the quality management’s evaluation of Biobanks.
Ongoing:
Defining a quality’s strategy.
WORKING GROUPS
TISSUE
Achieved:
WG has been launched. The pathologies’ Biobanks have been mapped and integrated. 
Ongoing:
Assessment of practices and comparison with European specifications (CEN).
Identifying of the first areas where standardization is essential.
Requirements' analysis for IT / Laboratory management system.
LIQUID
Ongoing:
Assessment on the existing status and gathering requirements for the liquid Biobanks.
NON-HUMAN
Achieved:
Decision has been made to create a Vetsuisse Biobank managed by SBP.
Ongoing:
Overview of Biobanks linked to Vetsuisse in Bern and Zurich.
LATEST NEWS: BIOLINK
 
Grants for the networking of biobanks established for research purposes in collaboration with Swiss Biobanking Platform (SBP).

Conditions
Grantees commit to collaborate with SBP and, in particular, to consult with SBP on the choice of IT systems and to register with the SBP's national biobank catalogue.

Applications are to be submitted via mySNF by 23rd September 2016. Detailed information can be found in the call documents and in mySNF.
