King Harold Academy students visit Tate Modern
Art students at King Harold Academy visited the Tate Modern in London as part of their GCSE course.
During the visit the Year 10 art students researched artists' work to include in their portfolio.
The topic of Similarities and Differences was the starting point for their work with the students given the opportunity to select a series of artists to influence and inspire them.
Art teacher Helen Turner said: "The whole experience was designed to broaden their outlook and cultural understanding of the world of Art, developing skills of critical understanding and being able to make informed decisions about not only Art but the environment in which it was produced.
"Students developed an awareness of cross curricular subjects to understand the works of modern artists which can be challenging and developed a questioning approach to the work."
Student Ellie Morrell said: "It was fun and a different experience, I won’t forget it."
Jessica Phillips said: "It was a great day out. I got inspired by lots of artists and their work.”
Jamie Watson described the visit as "eye opening” while Tony Bosher said: "I loved every moment of it.”
Jay Rigden said: "I found it interesting and it was something different.”
