As of June 1st 2015, more than 100 cities across Canada have endorsed IG Day Canada.
Learn how you can get your city/province/territory to proclaim IG Day in perpetuity and find ideas and inspiration to organize your own intergenerational activity on www.intergenerational.ca.
IG initiatives are an easy, affordable and manageable way to increase elder abuse awareness and prevention.

Sat. May 28, from 11am to 3pm
In Bridgeland, seniors and youth will be spreading the word about their positive experience with intergenerational connections. Together, they will also create a piece of community mural to be displayed at the community hall.
Sun. May 29 from 11am to 2pm
In Downtown East Village, the University of Calgary LINKages chapter will treat seniors to entertainment, engagement and lots of food. This is the 5th annual East Village event.
Wed. June 1 from 11am to 2pm
Calgary downtown core. Awareness raising event for the work that LINKages does in connecting generations. The event is also led by University of Calgary interns and there will be food, entertainment and engagement with the corporate sector.
Panel discussion on creating an intergenerational community with i2i Intergenerational Society. 5pm-7pm Downtown Victoria, details TBD.

The Association for Community Living, in association with the National Centre on Elder Abuse (US) will be hosting a webinar on Getting the Word Out about Elder Abuse and WEAAD: tips on talking about Elder Abuse, working with reporters, social media etc.

MEET THE ELDER JUSTICE LEAGUE:
The League raises awareness of elder abuse across social media platforms and takes elder justice conversations mainstream. This collaborative group, comprised of a variety of American and Canadian organizations, has created the online campaign Generations of Respect.
Starting on June 1st and until the end of the month:
- share your pictures of intergenerational relationships on social media, using the hashtag #GenerationsofRespect.
- Shed a positive light on Elder Abuse awareness.
- Include politicians, journalists, influencers in the conversation on social media.
- Retweet and repost lots!
- Tag us, tweet at us (@cnpea), or email us your photos and content if you do not have a social media account but want to participate.
Remember to tag your posts with #GenerationsofRespect and #WEAAD2016.
