Grants Available:

We are really excited to announce that we are making available two separate rounds of grant funding this year. Please do consider applying for a grant, or spread the word so as many people as possible have the chance to apply.
  • Maths Grant: at the AGM last year, we (the trustees) asked ourselves if there were other things in Jo's life that we would like to support in her memory. We decided that her love of Maths (she had just qualified as a Maths teacher when she died) was something we would like to honour. We are therefore thrilled to announce that we have made 3 grants of up to £1,000 each available to anyone in the UK with a good idea for helping inspire the love of Maths.  You can find out more and apply for a grant here. The deadline for this grant is the 31st of July 2016

Grant Reports: it's always fantastic to hear reports of how the grants we have made in previous years have been spent. A couple we've had updates from recently are below and are here on the website. Please do read on to find out how the Jo Walters Trust money is being spent.

Fundraising Updates: there have been some brilliant efforts to raise money for the Jo Walters Trust over the last few months. Vicky Duke cycled the North West 500 with her husband Peter, raising over a whopping £3,000, and we held the Big Day Out at Caprington Castle - this year with much more helpful weather, reports and photos also below. Coming up next on the fundraising front is a swim from Arran to Troon....brrr!

St Andrews Ball, London: 26th November 2016 - Please save this date if you possibly can as we are holding a St Andrew's Ball in London at the Caledonian Club in Belgravia. More details to follow soon.

Thanks so much for the support this year so far, and if you have any questions or ideas please do get in touch!

The Big Day Out at Caprington Castle
With the help of a very dedicated and efficient committee from Troon, the Jo Walters Trust staged the Big Day Out at Caprington Castle for a 2nd year. This time we got the weather right, and the day was a huge success. With an historical re-enactment of William Wallace and his rag tag army, pony rides, art classes, bungy trampolines, stalls, owls and much more, there was plenty to keep everyone entertained all day. You can read more and see the pictures from the day here.
Outward Bound Trust Grant

In 2016, from the proceeds of the Big Day Out at Caprington Castle in 2015, the Jo Walters Trust made a donation of £1,660 to the Outward Bound Trust, enabling 19 pupils from James Hamilton Academy in Kilmarnock, in Ayrshire, to participate in an Outward Bound course. Read more about how they got on here.

St Fergus Primary School Leaver's Legacy Grant
We're thrilled that the P7 pupils of St Fergus Primary School worked so hard to raise enough money which together with our grant of £1,000 bought such great apparatus for their school. Read more here.http://jowalterstrust.blogspot.co.uk/2016/07/grant-to-st-fergus-primary-school-for.html

Vicky Duke's North West 500

The Mormond Community Hub is a combination sports centre and community hall in the village of Strichen, in Aberdeenshire. The JWT was proud to help with the funding for the latest part of the project, an all-weather training area, which was officially opened on 23rd April.
