2016 APA Packraft Roundup Follow-up
View this email in your browser
Dear <<First Name>>,

Can you believe it? 115 packrafters all in one place last weekend – to our knowledge, the largest concentration of packrafters in history!!!

Thank you for coming to hang out with all of us at the 2016 Packraft Roundup. It is an honor to be part of such an amazing tribe. As Luc Mehl alluded to in his presentation on Saturday night, it’s up to all of us to determine the future of packrafting, and to build a culture of safety around us. This is what APA stands for, and we couldn’t do it without your support – thank you.

Big thanks go to all the volunteers who helped with the event – the trip leaders, the kitchen crew, the speakers, the organizers, and all of you who weren’t assigned a specific role ahead of time but were simply willing to jump in at a moment’s notice to help out with the task at hand. The Roundup wouldn’t have been as awesome as it was without your effort and dedication.

Deep gratitude also to this year’s sponsors of the Roundup: AIRE, Alpacka Rafts, American Canoe Association, Aqua-Bound, Clif Bar, Garage Grown Gear, Hyperlite Mountain Gear, Jackson Hole Packraft, Kokopelli, Montana Packrafts, NOLS, Outdoor Research, Packraft America, Pristine Ventures, Select Peaks Publishing, Swiftwater Safety Institute, and WindPaddle Sails. This event, packrafting, and the APA, wouldn’t be what it is without your support, vision, and commitment!

A little housekeeping item...if you were already a member of the American Canoe Association before the Roundup, please email us with your ACA member number. Thank you!

Many of you are already asking about next year’s Roundup. We’ll be sure to pick dates soon and let you know. Top secret plans are already underway for some big ideas for next year’s Roundup! And we need your help. If you’re a detail-oriented individual who likes event logistics, relationship building, and has plenty of free time, please consider volunteering to be on the 2017 Packraft Roundup Committee. We’ll be accepting applications to be on the committee and more details about the commitment required will be shared with anyone interested by emailing info@packraft.org

Again, many thanks for participating in the Roundup this year – it wouldn’t be what it is without all the unique individuals who make up our large tribe.

Happy paddling until next time,
American Packrafting Association Board of Directors and 2016 Packraft Roundup Committee Members

APA Roundup Committee
Julia Yanker, Theresa Lundquist, Dick Stout, David Nix, and Thomas Turiano

APA would like to express sincere appreciation to the organizations and businesses that have supported the Packraft Roundup. Special thanks to the American Canoe Association for underwriting the event and providing organizational guidance.
