Bangkok Street Food

Bangkok Street FoodThe highlight of this noodlies Asia Eating Tour so far is Bangkok's amazing street food.  Everything from exotic tropical fruit, to wonderful noodles, ubiquitous hai nam chicken and even spinning coffee!  I don't think I've ever eaten so much or as often.  Watch my Bangkok street food video.

Nahm BangkokDavid Thompson is causing a stir in Bangkok with his new restaurant, Nahm.  A farang opening a Thai restaurant in Bangkok is brave stuff, with or without the Michelin star.  Fifteen courses later including entree, mains and desserts I think I've come to a verdict. Bouquet or brick bat?  Find out here.

Salmon TofuThoroughly enjoyed my stay at Le Meridien, Bangkok, our favourite Thai hotel.  But what surprised me was the quality of food there, both at Latest Recipe buffet breakfast and their lead restaurant, Bamboo Chic.  Having signature dishes from three Michelin star chef, Jean-Georges Vongerichten doesn't hurt.

Bull's Penis SoupMother in law's House restaurant is as Cambodian as they come, complete with wonderful Cambodian singing and non-compromising, authentic  food.  After a couple of Cambodian cocktails, I talked Walter into eating bull's penis soup... what did it taste like?

Meric Restaurant Siem ReapMeric is located in Hotel de la Paix, an architechtural masterpiece in the heart of Siem Reap, Cambodia just minutes from the Night Markets.  The hotel was recently voted 2nd in Conde Nast Traveler Gold list for 2011.  Noodlies had a great time at Meric, one of the top restaurants in town.

K'Nyay Siem Reap CambodiaCambodian Buddhists aren't vegetarians so I was intrigued by this classy vegan restaurant in Siem Reap. K'NYAY's chef, Run, has a particularly inspiring background, being a graduate of the Friends International (Mith Samlanh) program which trains street children and disadvantaged youth.

La Malraux Siem Reap CambodiaThe French have had a long history in Indo-China, we reviewed La Malraux, a Cambodian-French restaurant in Siem Reap.  I found you can have the best of both world's, Cambodian savoury and French desserts! The restaurant didn't look bad either.

Pyongyang North Korean RestaurantIf you're fascinated by the mysterious world of North Korea, then Pyongyang restaurant in Phnom Penh might give you a tantalising glimpse.  It's a restaurant chain run by the North Korean regime to make money for the government.  Photography and video are banned... but we snuck out some footage.

Hong Kong SeafoodNext Edition: Bangkok, Siem Riep, Phnom Penh are done, but the noodlies Asia Eating Tour continues with Hong Kong and Macau.
