Neighbourhood News - The official newsletter of the Meadowbank and St Johns Residents Association

JULY 2016

Hello <<First Name>>!

There's been a lot of discussion about the apartments planned for the top of Meadowbank Rd (behind the BP), so we've arranged for the developer to come and speak to us at our meeting on August 2. If you're interested in this project we hope you'll join us - details below.

Also causing lots of local - and national - gossip is the TV show 'The Block NZ' which is being filmed right here on St Johns Rd. Up to 6,000 people are expected to visit our 'hood for the open homes on Saturday August 6! Read on to find out more and plan your travel accordingly.

More local news and information below! As always, we appreciate your feedback. Please email us at mail@mbsjra.co.nz.

5+ STOREY APARTMENTS FOR MEADOWBANK RD?

Come and hear developer Murdoch Dryden talk about Auckland Council's Special Housing Area (SHA) planned for 6-14 Meadowbank Rd. Although plans and drawings are not yet finalised, Murdoch will be able to discuss many aspects of the design such as heights of the buildings, the potential site layout and who the apartments might appeal to. All welcome, see mbsjra.co.nz/events for details.

GOING ROUND THE BLOCK

St Johns Rd will be closed between Dorchester St and Blackett Cres and detours in place on Saturday August 6 for 'The Block' open homes. Our temporary neighbours from this popular home renovation TV show have been very courteous and we've enjoyed making them welcome! However we do expect a day of traffic chaos as up to 6,000 people are expected to attend the open homes. If you're going, consider walking, biking or using public transport! More details at mbsjra.co.nz/events

NEW RULES FOR YOUR PROPERTY

The final Unitary Plan recommendations go public on the afternoon of July 27. This means you'll be able to search for your property online on the Auckland Council website and find out what new planning rules (e.g. maximum number of dwellings permitted) are likely to apply to each property in Auckland. See the article in the NZ Herald for more details.
