Dear Wolf Advocate:
The House/Interior EPA appropriations spending bill (HR 5538) is now being debated on the US House floor. There are three wolf related amendments that will get consideration/votes tonight. Calls to members of congress are needed. There are 50 targeted representatives that need calls from their constituents today.
It is astounding to us at HFW that our members of congress are actively working to extinct the wolf.
The three amendments and members that need your calls are on our website.
The 3 amendments are briefly below:
1. Vote NO on Newhouse (R-WA) amendment (#145) that will block all endangered species act (ESA) protections for the gray wolf in the US ( Alaska wolf is not protected). With all the states’ wolf killing that happened during the loss of federal protections, we think the wolf will be pushed toward extinction with this bill. Urge a NO vote on Rep Newhouse amendment. (#145)
2. Vote YES on Beyer (D-VA) amendment (#71) that will effectively stop three damaging riders that will block endangered species act protections for the wolf and 2 other species ( greater sage grouse and lesser prairie chicken).
3. Vote NO on Pearce (R-NM) Mexican gray wolf delisting amendment. This amendment will block federal funding for the endangered Mexican gray wolf under the ESA. There are less than 100 in the wild.
Make the call and write the emails now. Tell them Keep the wolf protected and don’t silence our wilderness!”
