The Lincoln Center Festival begins today! The 20th anniversary edition will feature artists and ensembles from seven countries in 49 dance, music, and theatre performances across the Lincoln Center campus.
Theater offerings at the festival include:
The Merchant of Venice: Double Olivier and Tony Award–winner Jonathan Pryce is Shylock in this critically acclaimed production.
Kanze Noh Theatre: Grand Master Kiyokazu Kanze leads one of the oldest Noh companies in a rare performance outside Japan.
Takarazuka CHICAGO: All female, all Japanese, and “All That Jazz.”
The festival runs through July 31.

MOTOWN: "Motown’s Back on Broadway—Here’s Why and What’s Changed" by Playbill's Michael Gioia - "When it announced its closing in 2014, it was already a hit—recouping its $18 million investment before it played its final performance January 18, 2015—but it was decided that the show would have the out-of-town tryout it never had to rework certain aspects. Motown became leaner—both in terms of storytelling and weekly production costs—on tour, and plans were always in place for its 2016 Broadway return. Although there are still well over 50 songs in the show, the cast size went from 41 on Broadway to 33 on tour.
