The latest news from the Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner
Monthly update: July 2016 EXTRA
While this newsletter will normally only be sent monthly (next issue on Friday August 5), this week has seen two key announcements which I want to share with you as soon as possible.

Firstly, I have launched a major consultation to seek the public's views on policing and community safety as I begin work on my first Police and Crime Plan.  I'm keen to hear as many views as possible, so please do take the short online survey.

The second key announcement is the launch of a recruitment drive to find a Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner to assist me in delivering a safer Warwickshire in which to live, work and visit.

Full details of both announcements below.

Police and Crime Plan Consultation
Following my election as Police and Crime Commissioner for Warwickshire in May I am now developing my Police and Crime Plan for the county, which sets out my aims and ambitions for making communities safe and protecting people from harm.

The plan will provide the strategic direction for policing during my term of office (2016-2020) and will be the basis of how I hold the Chief Constable and the police force to account.  It will also detail how the police and my office will work with partner organisations to reduce crime and improve community safety.

Fundamentally, my role is to listen and engage with communities so I can act as the public's voice on policing matters.  As I begin to draft the new plan, I want to hear the views and opinions of as many people across Warwickshire as possible.

I would be very grateful if you can spare a few minutes to complete the short survey – click the button below to get started.  Your feedback is important to me and will help influence what goes into the final plan when it is published later this year.

The consultation will alsol be available online on my website at
www.warwickshire-pcc.gov.uk until August 26.

Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner

I have today (Wednesday) begun the search for a Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner, who can work alongside me in delivering a safer Warwickshire in which to live, work and visit and holding the Chief Constable to account.

The role is being advertised widely and the final candidate will be selected on merit through a fair, objective and open process.

The Deputy's role is an important post for the county and will be a challenging and rewarding job.  I am extremely keen to ensure that I engage with all sections of the community as I carry out my duties and a Deputy will enable me to do this as widely as possible, as well as bringing additional resilience and skills to my office.

Applicants need not be from a political or a policing background – what is most important is that they are someone who has a determination to work hard on the public’s behalf as part of strong and professional team, with excellent social skills who can engage with all parts of society.

While I could have simply appointed a Deputy without opening a formal recruitment process, this would not have been fair, objective or transparent, nor would it have necessarily delivered the best candidate. I’m determined to find the right person  for the role and I look forward to hearing from people who believe they have the right blend of skills and experience.

The post will be a paid a salary of £40,000 p.a. and applications will be considered on a full or part-time basis.

More details of the role and an application pack can be found by clicking the button below and the deadline for applications is noon on Friday 29 July.
