District athletics
Some 125 West Hatch pupils joined athletes from Davenant, Debden Park, King Harold and Roding Valley schools for the West Essex Schools District Athletics Championships at Lea Valley Athletics Centre, Enfield.
West Hatch girls won an impressive 11 gold medals while the boys had a haul of 12 with eight Year 7s winning their first district golds.
Gabriella Dada won triple gold (200m, 800m and 4x100m relay) with double gold success achieved by Maya Matias (Discus and 4x100m), Callum Glanville (Javelin and 4x100m) and Charlie Tremayne (Triple Jump and 4x100m).
Further success was seen by Year 8, 9 and under-16 students.
Among the top performers were Mariellen Teubes (Year 9) who has won high jump gold for three consecutive years; Tassie Lopez Dias (Year 9) won 1500m for the second time and Jake Groce (under-16) had another triple gold success in the 100m, High Jump and 4x100m.
West Hatch won four of the eight competitions per year group winning Year 7 girls, Year 8 boys and girls and under-16 boys.
West Hatch was second in the overall school tally to Davenant - 1,210 points to 1,147.
