In case you missed it this past week has seen a major development in the world of technology and social media, and it goes by the name of Pokemon Go. It is the newest hit game that is played on smart phones which allows players to "catch them all" by walking around and locating specific Pokemon characters which they then catch and add to their collection.
This game is just the latest thing that puts our noses in our phones and sets our eyes glued to little computer screens. A question I asked myself this week was, "how is all of this social sharing affecting the way we interact with others"? After doing some research and collecting my professional experiences with the topic, I realized that social media can have scary effects on our lives, just one of them being ruining relationships. In an effort to help, I am sharing the latest blog from my team at Rice Psychology Group which lays out some tips to keep social media use at a healthy level.
