Will I See You At the March
Tomorrow Evening?
I'm going to be there. Lynn's going to be there. Bring your kids. Bring your neighbors. Congregations throughout our city, from across Westchester and in our Presbytery will be there. Let us, with love and determination, continue our congregation's strong witness for racial justice hand in hand with our community.
The White Plains march and rally in response to racial violence has been planned by clergy and community leaders from throughout Westchester County. It will begin with prayer on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the parking lot of Calvary Baptist Church on Post Road at Orawaupum Street. This event has been carefully coordinated with faith and community organizations and the White Plains Police Department.
From the start point, we will march along Post Road to South Lexington Avenue. We will stop for reflection and prayer at 135 South Lexington Avenue (where Kenneth Chamberlain, Sr. was shot and killed), pause again at the Police and Public Safety Building at 77 South Lexington, and then continue to Court Street, where there will be speakers from many faith and community organizations from Westchester County.
The route is approximately three-quarters of a mile from Calvary Baptist Church to Court Street. The White Plains Police Department has made parking available at the Post Road School, a few blocks north of Calvary, as well as on Post Road and local streets. Carpooling is advised.
