TABLE ROCK TRAIL RUN

Hi <<First Name>>,

The
Table Rock Trail Run is this Saturday, July 16th! This 10K, Half Marathon, and 30K is a true competition for event-experienced and novice mountain runners alike. The race kicks off with a bang, as you climb 2,000′ in just over 2 miles up the infamous Willow Camp trail, then, depending on the marine layer, runners will take in views of the California coastline and the Pacific Ocean before bombing back down to Stinson Beach. The longer distances will continue on up Steep Ravine, with an eventual return via Dipsea. This race exposes participants to some of the most challenging and technical trails this side of the mountain has to offer, so lace up those trail shoes and hold onto those quads! The course record for the 10K is 52:09 (M) and 1:03:52 (F), set by Justin Morejohn and Charlotte Skaunsgaard, respectively; the half-marathon and 30K are new additions and we will be looking for fast times on the 16th!

Please make sure to read through this entire email, as it contains important information about the race logistics and all of the festivities leading up to the event.

Of course, we couldn't host an event such as this without the support our incredible volunteers. Please be sure to thank everyone who has taken the time out of their schedules to help ensure you have a safe and fun race experience.

We look forward to seeing everyone this Saturday!

Aid Station Distances and Cutoffs

Aid Stations will be located approximately every 3 - 6 miles along the course. Inside Trail Racing aid stations are replete with an optimal variety of glycogen-replenishing, electrolyte-replacing products. The following is a list of some of the foods and beverages each aid station may provide: Gu Energy gels and chews, all-natural nutrition bars from Larabar, trail mix, pretzels, potato chips, Oreo cookies, Pop Tarts, boiled potatoes with salt, Coke, Mountain Dew, Ginger Ale, water, Tailwind Endurance Fuel, PB&J sandwiches, M&M’s, Mike & Ike’s, salt tablets, and tangerines. Aid stations are also equipped with general first aid items but no anti-inflammatory medicine. As distances between aid station vary, we strongly encourage all runners to carry at least one 20oz bottle during their run.

Tailwind is mixed so that it contains 180 – 200 calories per 20 fluid ounces.

We strongly encourage all runners to carry at least one 20oz bottle during their run.
COURSE MARKINGS

The course is marked with ribbon, approximately every 200 meters, and color coded as follows:

10K – Pink
Half Marathon – Pink to Orange (Turn back to Stinson at Cardiac AS)
30K – Pink to Orange

In addition to being marked with colored ribbon, there will be signs placed at critical intersections, including "Wrong Way" signs. Upcoming turns will be indicated by 3 or 4 ribbons placed closely together, before and on the same side as the upcoming turn. After you complete the turn, there will be ribbons indicating the correct route (“confidence” ribbons). The most important course marking is blue ribbons. If you run past a blue ribbon you are going the wrong way!

If you don't see the proper colored ribbon for your course for 4 - 5 minutes, you are off course. If you get off course, you should retrace your path until you find where you left the course and then continue along the marked course.

Occasionally, vandalism does happen on the course. Even though the route will be marked extremely well, we do recommend that you carry a map with you while you are running.

Please be courteous on the trail. If you're passing another runner or hiker, announce your approach. On out and back sections please give the uphill runner the right of way.

Please have your bib number clearly visible when you approach and aid station and when you cross the finish line to ensure accurate results. Your bib number is color coded, which indicates which distance you are running (Blue = 10K, Red = Half Marathon, Green = 30K). If you want to change your distance, please let us know at check-in, at the latest. If you do decide to change your distance or drop out while running you must let the finish line volunteer or timer know.

TRAIL ETIQUETTE

We are committed to maintaining the beauty and sensitive nature of the trails and parks we run in. To that end, please respect the trails and do not litter. If you are seen littering you will be disqualified from the race. Please stay on course and out of all environmentally sensitive areas.

You can expect to encounter equestrians, mountain bikers, and hikers on the trails. Please be aware of all trail users and be cautious as you approach any horses. If the rider asks you to slow down, or walk, please heed their warning... it is for your own safety. If you are listening to music, please keep the volume low so you can hear other trail users call out.

Please be courteous on the trail. If you're passing another runner or hiker, announce your approach. On out and back sections please give the uphill runner the right of way.

If you choose to listen to music while on the trails, please be sure to keep the volume low, and to remove your headphones as you approach an aid station or the finish line.
