robot startup community and events
accelerating the growth of robot startups

Silicon Valley Robotics and Robohub have just launched the 2016 Robot Launch global online startup competition. Pitch your robotics startup online to an audience of top VCs, investors and experts, with live finals in Silicon Valley. Entries close August 15.

In previous Robot Launch competitions we’ve had hundreds of entries from more than 20 countries around the world. Our finalists have also reached the finals of major startup competitions like Tech Crunch Disrupt, and gone on to raise millions of dollars of funding making strong industry partnerships, such as working with Siemens Frontier Program.

Our semifinalists also get featured on Robohub, the global robotics news site. And everyone who enters gets incredibly valuable feedback from top robotics VCs, investors and experts.

CRITERIA: Your startup should be under 5 years old, with less than $2 million in funding. You should have a great new robotics technology and business model. Your startup is related to robotics, AI or autonomous vehicles.

BUILDING THE ROBOTICS TOOLKIT
JULY 19 - SAN FRANCISCO

Welcome to the Silicon Valley Robotics Influencer series, hosted at HAX and sponsored by Qualcomm Ventures. This topic looks at the robotics toolkit, and asks what's holding robotics back? Do we need better interoperability, affordability or usability?

  • Brian Gerkey, Open Source Robotics Foundation
  • Rosanna Myers, Carbon Robotics
  • Brad Bogolea, Simbe Robotics
  • Gareth Keane, Qualcomm Ventures

With the age of robotics upon us, the industry still utilizes an array of tools: Numerous standards, languages, platforms, etc. are being tapped to develop these complex products. In this exclusive Salon event, we ask top experts in the field to hone in on the building blocks that they feel are a necessary part of the “robotics toolkit” and what are the obstacles holding robotics back. What should developers and engineers consider utilizing when working in robotics and how does the open source and investing community impact these decisions? This question, and more, will be explored during our session.
