ISO IWA Public Review : 'Draft 2' on Guidance Principles for the Sustainable Management of Secondary Metals

It is our pleasure to announce that the ISO IWA 19 'Draft 2' on Guidance Principles for the Sustainable Management of Secondary Metals has been published and is available for Public Review until July 31, 2016.  This second public review follows the first one (1st February to 31st March 2016) which raised quite some interest and resulted in more than 500 comments. See here comments received and our replies on how these were addressed in 'Draft' 2.

The  International Workshop Agreement (IWA) is a consensus building process under the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) convened by The Sustainable Recycling Industries (SRI) and includes four working sessions, followed by public reviews and runs until November 2016. The Guidance Principles for the Sustainable Management of Secondary Metals aim to provide credible and practical global framework for companies, governments, policy makers, NGOs, sustainability standard organisations and other interested stakeholders.

The aim of this Public Review is threefold: (i) collect comments from key stakeholders in order to ensure that the Guidance Principles can be applied worldwide and are beneficial to all affected parts; (ii) follow the requirements of the ISO IWA 19 process and (iii) comply with the ISEAL Code of Good Practice requirement by ensuring that at least two rounds of public consultations of 60 and 30 days respectively take place during the process and that your comments and our replies on how they were handled are made publicly available in our website jointly with a revised version.

Looking forward to receiving your valuable feedback by 31 July 2016.
